MLS has announced new age-based rules for Designated Players that reduce the hit younger players make on a team’s salary cap. The new rules may reduce the amount Freddy Du will take up of the Union’s salary cap in 2012.
The MLS has expanded the designated player rule. All clubs can now add a second designated player to their roster and have the option to purchase the rights to add a third.
