Philadelphia Union

A 120′ Wayne Rooney PK in extra time sunk Philadelphia Union’s Open Cup hopes. D.C. United topped the Union 2-1 in the capital.

MLS Players Association released the latest salary figures yesterday. Here’s how the Union’s payroll looks.

U.S. Open Cup

Speaking of late, dramatic goals, the U.S. Open Cup had plenty of excitement last night — and one more upset as new USL side New Mexico United knocked out Colorado 2(4)-2(2) on penalties.

The last remaining amateur side, Orange County SC, fell to LA Galaxy 3-0.

Orlando City topped Memphis 3-1.

NYCFC got their first Cup win over North Carolina.

FC Dallas easily handled OKC Energy 4-0.

FC Cincinnati knocked out USL rival Louisville City.

Portland beat Seattle 2-1.

Minnesota United thumped Sporting Kansas City 4-1.

MLS

Check out the full MLS salary cap guide here! There are some… interesting figures. Notably, Zlatan is the league’s highest paid player, pocketing $7.2 million this season.

USL

After an incredible showing for amateur side Florida Soccer Soldiers, Valentin Sabella signed with Charlotte Independence in USL.

Too bad manager Jim McGuiness won’t be around to see what he can do.

World Cup

Nigeria got their first win with a big 3-0 victory over South Korea.

Germany notched another 1-0 win over Spain.

France beat Ada Hegerberger-less Norway 2-1.

  1. Losing the 1st cup game is a blessing. This will help us have more fresh legs for late summer regular season games and beyond.

Plausible facility with grass field but would need lighting improvements to meet USL standards.
