To no surprise, Ilsinho is the MLS Player of the Week.

In addition, Ilsinho also features on the Team of the Week. Auston Trusty also makes the XI.

Last but not least, Jim Curtin is the MLS Coach of the Week, his third time this year.

Auston Trusty and Brenden Aaronson were invited to U-23 USMNT training camp. They will miss Wednesday’s Open Cup match at DC.

  1. Andy Muenz says:

Just realizing that without Trusty and Aaronson, the Union are going to have a hard time filling a full roster tomorrow night. Assuming McKenzie and Real are available, you start with those two, Fabinho, Bedoya, (maybe Blake), Collin, Ilsinho, Fontana, Freese, Gaddis, and Fafa. Those are the only players on the roster who are not considered Internationals. For Open Cup games, I believe you are only allowed 5 internationals. That means only 15 or 16 players (depending on Blake’s availability) and probably no rest for someone like Bedoya who could really use it.

  2. I’ve been thinking- are we not going to have a centerback on the bench tomorrow night? It’ll be Elliott and Collin starting and McKenzie and Trusty are both away, right?

  3. Play all the kids tomorrow for the cup. Play those 4 Steel players, get Fontana out there. As long as you have Ilsinho on the bench, you can bail yourself out of any first half troubles.

    This just in…
    .
“After helping lead Guyana to their first-ever Concacaf Gold Cup, Philadelphia Union midfielder Warren Creavalle will miss out on the tournament after suffering a broken foot in training, Union head coach Jim Curtin announced Tuesday.
    .
The injury occurred while with the national team and he is expected to miss two to four weeks.“

  5. Just read Warshaw’s take on the Union’s best player through the first half of the season. Um, no. Jack Elliott and Ale Bedoya are strong runners-up, with Ilsinho making a late bid, but the answer is Jamiro Monteiro. Period. Full stop. End of story. Anybody who has been watching them carefully knows where we would be without him.
