  1. Any details on the fee we received for Ayuk? Also, the link takes you to the DCU preview page on the Union’s site.

Without taking away from how fantastic a season Martinez is having (and it’s damn fantastic), I’m tired of the MLS propaganda machine trumpeting “greatest …. ever” without any true comparison. They’re throw out names like Ronaldo, Kane, Salah, Lewandoski, etc., without any adjustment for opposition. Makes the stomach turn.

    please. win. tonight. beautifully.

    • If you’re sick of MLS hyping up moneymakers I don’t know what to tell ya, bud. ATL is dominant and that sweet sweet NFL money will ensure that for years to come. MLS Corporate knows full well that Martinez is lesser than those names but Martinez is who they got and you sell what you got. Frankly I’m just surprised Garber hasn’t moved MLS HQ to Atlanta.

      • I mean, I’m not saying I don’t understand, I’m just saying I’m tired of the “greatest (insert latest catchphrase)” articles without any real comparison.

Some in-depth analysis on it would be nice, rather than just a blurb with lazy statistics tables thrown together with glitzy names.

Soccer journalism exists on the fringes. It exists. But in the fringes.

Beyond that, you just gotta know not to read those things. It’s like, Radiohead, The Daily Mail, “The inmates are running the asylum.”

    • They did not receive a transfer fee for Ayuk. Sounds like future considerations if the new club sells Ayuk but no fee as his contract was essentially up (expires in a few months). I believe Tannewald reported it after a conference call

If you haven’t already… wait till u see Ajax, Frenkie de Jong.

One of my favorite young players in the world. Kid is unreal.

    • Sidebar: Does anyone have more than a Wikipedia understanding of why there are so many de Jongs?

      • It is typical Dutch name like Johnson here. I saw the 2nd half yesterday and they are fantastic to watch. Nice balance between old and young. Happy that they are back in the CL!

  3. NIce profile on Bedoya. He really does fit the city well. (When you write an entire piece on a veteran player, it ought to include how old he is, though.)

  4. Interesting little piece in the article on Bedoya. He really seems to want a big signing and laments the team not spending money like some other teams. He’s very clear that he’s fine ether way, but definitely seems like he wishes the organization would take that next step.

Deuce is retiring. Always loved watching him play. Stud. Loved the attitude and fearlessness to just try shit. Congrats on a great career.

    • My favorite player. Sorry to see him retire. We probably won’t see him doing anything again. Doesn’t seem like media guy or a coach.

      • OneManWolfpack says:

Yeah agreed. He may pop up as like an in-studio pundit guy when the World Cup comes around… especially when it’s here in 2026… but that’d prolly be the extent of it.

The ESPN article left out the part where Trump tried to have Cordeiro deported.

  7. damn. i know it’s a short week but i wish there was a match preview for tonight. night and day team with Rooney in there
