Area players found their ways onto scoreboards across the country this week, as goals poured in from Antoine Hoppenot for Philly, Corey Hertzog for Wilmington, and Ryan Heins for Richmond.
But the most amazing goal may have come from north of the border when the Lancaster, Pa. native and Montreal’s regular right-back Zarek Valentin began a late rally for the Impact in the 78th minute against the visiting Columbus Crew.
Down 1-0, Valentin slotted home a beautiful goal off a clean pass from Sanna Nyassi for the equalizer, his first since joining MLS in 2011. Montreal would earn the go-ahead goal just before the final whistle, giving the Impact a much needed home win before they travel to PPL Park to face a hot Union side this Saturday.
