Temple alum J.T. Noone re-signed with his hometown Harrisburg City Islanders and celebrated Friday with a game-winning goal.

Noone buried a penalty kick in the 51st minute to lead Harrisburg to a 2-1 win Friday over the Charleston Battery. Noone, who spent half a season with Philadelphia Union in 2010, recorded four assists last season in 21 games for Harrisburg. He also had one of the season’s more remarkable goals, netting in the closing minutes of the USL Pro title game to send it to overtime.

Speaking of the Battery, two new signings from the Philadelphia area scored goals for Charleston in their 3-0 win over Charlotte on Tuesday, with midfielders Ryan Richter and Tony Donatelli netting and Richter assisting on the third goal. It was the first goal of the season for each.

In Major League Soccer, Bobby Convey, Jeff Larentowicz, Zarek Valentin, and Dan Gargan each continued to get starting nods, while Andrew Wenger didn’t make the 18 for Montreal’s midweek match.

Here’s a roundup of how Philadelphia-area natives fared over the weekend in MLS and other top-tier leagues around the world.
