Nowak tweeting, U-18s winning, US ready for Ecuador

Peter Nowak took to Twitter to discuss MLS training, time and a range of other topics. Check out the Coach’s Twitter feed for a ton of interesting talking points like:

It’s a great bit of communication between the coach and the fans, and The Union Dues were heavily involved in the conversation. Check out their take on it all here.

Union players and staff will be on the 800 Block of E. 9th Street, Chester, Pa. today at 2pm to help with a Habitat for Humanity project.

The Union U-18s blasted DC United but the U-16s fell 2-1.

MLSsoccer.com goes through possible playoff scenarios for the Union.

Kevin Kinkead credits the success of the 4-5-1 hybrid formation with fueling the Union’s unbeaten run. The bigger issue here is: Why do all the pre-game team photos look so photoshopped?

Apparently Seattle plans on spinning their loss to the Union into a positive. Huh.

Sounder at Heart decides it wasn’t what the Union had, it’s what Seattle didn’t have that was the difference in the game.

The Goalkeeper reports that initial talks have begun for the US to play France in November.

Speaking of France, check out the plans for Lille’s new 50,000+ stadium. Gorgeous.

Shin Guardian goes around the web ahead of the USA/Ecuador match today. Lots of great links and info here.

Everyone has thoughts on where Brek Shea should be playing his football in the future.

AP writer Ronald Blum says that Klinsmann is a “cool coach.”  That may be, but Jurgy has a long way to go before he’s as cool as Cooldog and Coolcat.

Former England goalie Chris Woods has been named the new USA goalkeeping coach.

Scary numbers: England spent 24 million euro in its bid for the 2018 World Cup. And got two votes. There is a lot of money being thrown around for the right to spend a lot of money on one month’s worth of soccer that fans will have to pay a lot of money to see. Someone somewhere must be making a lot of money…

October 11, 1962. Intercontinental Cup. Santos against Benfica. Pele against Eusebio. Chills. It’s like Messi vs. Ronaldo, only it’s actually exciting.

  1. Some big Euro games today. The France – Bosnia Hercegovina is probably the best one and will determine who wins the Group and who will have to play a play-off game. Good summary of all here:

  2. Upsets in the making: Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has given Bosnia-Hercegovina a 1-0 lead against France in Paris, in what is effectively a shootout for top spot in Group D. Who fancies France versus Republic of Ireland in the play-offs if that score stays the same? Would be tasty, wouldn’t it? Meanwhile, in Group H, Sunderland’s Nicklas Bendtner has put Denmark 2-0 up against Portugal. If it stays like that the Danes will qualify automatically.
