The Sons of Ben are taking food donations at this Saturday’s soccer matches at Pennypack Park in northeast Philadelphia, with plans to give the food to a charity in Chester.
Last year, the SoBs and Philadelphia Union gave $2,501 and 600 pounds of food to the Bernadine Center, a nonprofit group providing food and supplies to low-income Chester residents. They hope to match that this Saturday with their “Kick Hunger” campaign.
If you have non-perishable food to donate and want to catch a few free soccer matches, come out to the fields in northeast Philadelphia. The Sons of Ben field two teams in the Casa Soccer League at Pennypack Park, and their Saturday games are at 8:50 a.m. and 2:35 p.m. You can drop by for their matches and stay for more if you like, as there will be 20 games on four fields there throughout the day.
