Philadelphia Union “Roster Profile”- September 17, 2024

We provide the latest and closest-to-official rendering of the Philadelphia Union’s roster to help you understand the upcoming end-of-season Roster Decisions that must be submitted to the league office on Wednesday, November 27. However, we do not know exactly when the information will be made available to the general public on the club’s website, the league’s, or via its official social media.

Here are two different URLs to the original document that we have reproduced.  https://x.com/JTansey90/status/1836422687289147682/photo/1 and https://mlssoccer.app.box.com/s/sle48mupro7cb4o82oowgoke0jb8rpca. The second should link to the Spanish language version.

Writer’s note: The following document’s text is quoted verbatim from the original source. The layout is also reproduced with equal textual accuracy, but with column widths narrowed to fit publication layout requirements. As a result, each player’s entry is on two or three lines instead of one, except for Alejandro Bedoya’s, which spans more lines. The number in the far-left column indicates the top left corner of the rank of invisible cells containing each column’s information.

The original document does not list Jack McGlynn as a homegrown player. We have included that information but believe the original to be in error on this point, which we indicate with our two items in brackets.

September 17, 2024, is immediately after the roster freeze date for the 2024 season. The information below is what expansion club San Diego has been studying all fall.

  1. Thanks Tim!

On the U-22 initiative player list, I thought Quinn Sullivan was just extended and slotted into that list per team announcement in October? For Makhanya, is that official or just a placeholder for now?
    .
There is some real flexibility to this roster if Uhre is sold (possibly Gaz too?) + the added U-22 slot + Bedoya in the new player/coach slot.

  2. Tanner’s last presser seems to confirm that Quinn Sullivan will be a U22 player when his new contract kicks in.
