Union II will play in an international U18 tournament hosted by Real Cartagena in Columbia, Torneo Las Americas Elite.

The games will take place from October 18 to at least October 21 (and possibly October 24). Players Shanyder Borgelin and Gino Portella do not qualify because of age (too old) and Bajung Darboe will stay behind as well, presumably because of age (too young). U17 regulars Owen Moore, Daniel Krueger, and Gavin Wetzel will stay home with Darboe for U17 MLS NEXT matches.

The games will be 90 minutes, and there will be four of them in four days. So the Union’s new “Development Squad” coached by Fred da Silva will travel to Colombia with Union II to provide squad depth. The number of Union players traveling appears to total 29.

Below is a best estimate of the 13 Union II “regulars” likely to be making the trip. [Author’s note: the official travel roster was posted Monday, 10/18/21 slightly before noon. It is appended below.]

Left Back – Anton Sorenson; Left Center Back – Samuel Jones; Right Center Back – Brandan Craig;  Right Back – Jackson Gilman; Right Back – Francis Westfield

Defensive Center Mid – Diego Lopez; Right Center Mid – Jack Jasinski; Left Center Mid – Ian Abbey; Attacking Center Mid – Anthony Ramirez

Striker – Nelson Pierre; Striker Marcos Zambrano; Striker – Gael Medrano.

Matt Ralph of the Brotherly Game listed the Development Squad for its first game on September 1^st.

Midfielders – Sam Graham, Aiden O’Sullivan, Ritter Sunby, Sandu Zama

Strikers – Conor Clair and Paul Killeen

Bench – Ian Tunbull, Jak Higginbotham, Jordan Lawrence, Mathias Velasquez, Zakary Kandoussi.
