  1. Any idea whether they are still going to require a 9 or 10 day quarantine for these players before the playoffs? If so, the Union will be forced to play a playoff game missing two of their top players basically due to their being too good, especially if they are playing New England who has no one called up. If players are missing, then it’s the MLS Cup that deserves the asterisk rather than the Supporters Shield.

    • Yeah… saw that El Brujo is listed on the preliminary roster for Venezuela. At least Blake is not on the list…

      • Monteiro and Mbaizo have both been added to their countries’ lists.

      • So far, 1:15 pm Tu 11/10, there is no announcement of Martinez leaving from the Union.
        .
Since Venezuela play Brazil Friday, and since he saw the bench only, no minutes for the second game only last time, and since he is coming off a positive Covid-19 test, … .
        .
        There may be hope.

I’m looking to enjoy the taste of this for a few more days as I hope the team and coach are as it has been long due and certainly– well earned- then doing an about face.
    .
There is work to do. Focus.
    .

  3. I suppose the other question is will Jose need to be quarantined ? Does the protocol take into account that he has had it already?

  4. John O'Donnell says:

Curtin mentioned for coach of the year….the Union way being touted….developing youth and selling for record numbers…2020 has truly been out of control for some on this site. Lol

    • el Pachyderm says:

Can you explain what you mean John– RE: 2020 has truly been out of control for some on this site?

      • John O'Donnell says:

Didymus is your answer when it comes to the Union way.

      • el Pachyderm says:

ah. yes. I have been critical. but intellectually honest as well.
        .
you’ve had it all figured out all along i guess. slow clap.
        .

      • John O'Donnell says:

Figured out… no. Patient with a coach, team, league that’s not on the beaten path….maybe.Jay Sugarman earned more respect Ruth me because he believed in all of that and it’s all happening this year as the steady ascent continues with all of the above.
        .
Honest criticism is fine but also not believing until after the results are in much like Didymus. LOl
        .
        On another note….Colorado vs. Union

      • el Pachyderm says:

I’m affronted by your opinion of my position and the condescension you continually bring to this place. Do me a favor- stay away from my spaces on here going forward and I will do the same with you.
        .

      • John O'Donnell says:

It’s your ball….feel free to go home. You responded to me and you aren’t the only person on this site who has had criticism but now is being silenced by the teams growth. Remember when there were more comments when they were bad than now that they are good.
        .
Sorry you feel that way, I didn’t realize you were so sensitive to criticism….you seem to give it but I guess you can’t take it.
        .
I’ll leave this site to you….enjoy and thanks for the stimulating conversation over the years. Bye

      • el Pachyderm says:

John. We’ve gone round and round on here and I’ve enjoyed it– mostly- because you’ve been steadfast. I’ve actually come to appreciate it… …and at multiple times have stipulated to strengths in your arguments…
        .
…you however have almost never wavered or offered shit by way of conceeding to strengths in mine or multiple others – then you take a weasely pot shot whihc I was able to sniff out- yeah John I asked for clarification of your wrods to be sure what I suspected was correct…. sooner or later, a person has to ask themselves why bother… take my ball and go? No … we’d have a moment on the playground.
        .
….Stay. Go. I could give a damn… just do not engage me any longer… whether directly or with your underhanded- left-handed commentary.

  5. Cape Verde, (Monteiro) and Cameroon (Mbaizo)are in the same group for the African Cup of Nations qualifiers. Cameroon are tied with Mozambique for first on points, Cape Verde are third on two points and Rwanda are fourth with none.
    .
Cape Verde are home and away to Rwanda in this break, so Monteiro will be flying home from Rwanda after the match on Tuesday Nov. 17.
    .
Cameroon are home and away to Mozambique, so Mbaizo will be flying home from Mozambique after the match on Monday, Nov. 16.
    .
The Union’s playoff game is 8:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 24.
    .
The ten-day quarantine would seem to exclude them both, even if the quarantine period were to start from the time they left rather than the time they arrived in Philly.
    .
Given the availability and timing of commercial air travel for both players from Maputo, Mozambique and Kigali, Rwanda it seems to me likely that they might want to return with their teams on presumed charter flights to the Cape Verdes and Cameroon before coming back to Philadelphia. Direct Commercial flights from east central Africa and southeastern Africa to Philly do not come close to existing. Atlanta to Johannesburg, South Africa would be a non-stop, but how the pandemic is restricting travel for individuals is a separate series of problems.
