Philadelphia Union
If you missed #DoopAfterDark, the Union drew LAFC 3-3 in a wild match.
National coverage of the match.
The Union II drew Loudoun United in their USL opener at Subaru Park.
The Union’s Meet the Team event has been postponed.
MLS
How does Atlanta go about replacing Josef Martinez?
Things are not looking good for the LA Galaxy.
If you were wondering if MLS would use VAR for goalies off their line, here’s your answer.
Are the Quakes this bad or are the Loons this good, or is it a combo of both.
Even though they didn’t win, Inter Miami got their first MLS goal.

The USWNT beat Spain 1-0 in the SheBelieves Cup.
Landon Donovan and Eric Wynalda went head to head this weekend.
This weekend, Manchester is red.
The LA and National coverage don’t seem impressed with Glesnes’ goal.
Screw the Posts’ feeble coverages. No sense of context. American writers: “If you didn’t win you lost.” Bah humbug. Phans know the real story. Phreakin awesome!
The bottom link goes to the donova n wynalda match.
It’s definitely too early for LA Galaxy panic, but I said this before the season, and I still think it: Chicharito is not going to be as good as people think he is. He may get on the end of a good run, but I would have a hard time putting money on him to be better value than 15 goals this season. I thought the hype around his signing was a bit odd. I actually hope he does do better and proves me wrong, because I think stars doing well in MLS is better for the league in general. But count me a Chicharito skeptic.
It takes a pretty specific set-up to get Chicharito rolling – he’s a JacMacAttac type. LA’s 50+ crosses from out wide over the last two games is not the way to get there.
.
Bust. And not completely all on Chicharito.
.
I’m a little surprised at GBS’ tactics tbh.
I’m sure I’m echoing the sentiment of many fans, and this is basically old news, but I think it’s very irresponsible for MLS to schedule an east coast team at 10:55 on a Sunday night. I usually put on the late games as I’m getting ready for bed, but it’s often two western teams whose fans are in the pacific or mountain zonesand I don’t have a stake in the match. Fwiw, and there was no one to tell this before the match, but as great as that was it would’ve been more amazing at 7:30 or 8 when you have many more east coast eyes. Just seems silly, almost like the league doesn’t want this fan base to watch their team (or any, really, since they’re barely on national tv anyway).
If Bedoya is hurt and cannot go, and if Martinez rubbing at his hamstring after he came off is anything more than a cramp, the Union will have 18 bodies with which to play San Jose counting Turner and de Vries.
.
If you think about Jim Curtin’s “hope” that Kai Wagner might be running on the sidelines by this past Friday, that says he has not been able to run yet during preseason. He’s out for a while.
.
McKenzie, Aaronson and Freese are away for Olympic qualifying, according to the Union website article reporting their selection, since it says they left from LA directly to Mexico. (No, Freese would not have left from LA, Philadelphia.)
Creavalle did not dress in LA. “upper leg strain, questionable”
.
Out (8): Martinez, Bedoya, Aaronson, McKenzie, Wagner, Freese, Creavalle,[Burke].
Available (18) Start?: Blake; Real, Elliott, Glesnes, Gaddis; Oravec; Monteiro, Fontana; Ilsinho; Przybylko, Santos. Subs: Bendik; Mbaizo, Collin, Turner, de Vries, Ngalina, Wooten
Ilsinho is still gunning for starts – this may be one of the games where he has another chance to show it.
If SJ is still going man to man, that may be a fun night.
If you haven’t seen/heard the en espanol call of Glesnes’ goal:
