  1. I gotta say, I really am happy that guys like Hack, Cruz, Hoppenot and Bone (maybe to a lesser extent bone) have a more robust second division to continue careers. There have been probably a lot of guys on the Union’s previous rosters that were probably good USL-level talent playing in the US top flight.

While the USLC Nashville SC is dissolving, they had four Union-Steel products on the pitch at the endow last season – Ken TRibbett, Bolu Akinyode, Taylor Washington, and Derrick Jones. Jones, Tribbett and Washington have been signed to the MLS side.

  2. I appreciate a good mad lib but who has a travel agent in the year 2019?

A young #6 with dual citizenship and a growing value. Fits the bill of what Tanner has talked about.

    Welcome to Union 2.0.
    .
Getting value for players who don’t fit into the system or aren’t willing to be team first as they try and compete for starting minutes.
    .
Willing to cut ties with players they’ve brought in who don’t produce based on wages spent.
    .
Building around a core of players who finally have a team identity with tactical flexibility.
    .
Giving academy players meaningful minutes at Bethlehem Steel and signing them to the Union roster at a early age. Only to trade them to other MLS teams for funny money. Correct me if I’m wrong but if Trusty was sold over seas they could only use 650K on the roster which is less if he hits performance bonuses.
    .
I believe Tanner now has about 4 million of wages off last year’s roster. With the idea to spend before they go to camp. Should be fun silly season instead of the cone of silence till after they go to Florida.

    • The final thing we need, to upgrade over previous iterations of the Union, is for the anticipated major international signing(s) to be worked out EARLY, so they can come to camp from the get-go and start acclimating to the team and the league right away.

This has really hurt them in the past. Monteiro was an exception in being able to step right in and be fantastic. More often it takes at least a few months, and you want them to be fully firing on all cylinders by July/August at worst.

      • Old Soccer coach says:

        tookDockal about six weeks.
        .
and remember Monteiro was halfway through his season when he came.

  5. I’m all in “In Tanner we trust!!” All the best to Fafa! Thank you for your service! And a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
