Steel

The USL has fined Bethlehem Steel for poor conditions at LaSalle University’s McCarthy Stadium, where the Union’s USL affiliate is playing this month so that the problematic field at the Union’s Talen Energy Stadium can rest and solidify. (The Steel had been playing at Talen because new USL regulations regarding stadium lighting forced the Steel to move from Goodman Stadium in Bethlehem.) Visiting Nashville SC had little in the way of locker room amenities and met among a group of folding chairs set up next to the bleachers.

  1. I hope the Union get a big refund for that pitch job from the offseason. Has been an unmitigated disaster. It’s an embarrassment. Not even fit for a death metal festival.

    • I agree.
      .
The weather was a big factor – the spring didn’t warm up sufficiently to get the grass out of dormancy until really late this year, so they didn’t start rooting early enough.
      .
      but…
      .
That’s where you need to bring in grow lights, which they really should have started in Feb. They skimped (shocking, I know) and didn’t bring any in. SKC meanwhile, owns their own lights and invested in a soil temp control system – all as part of their regular field management.

While any Spurs game is clearly the highlight of the week, I think you mean Manchester United vs Chelsea is the headliner (at least based on the schedule posted in the article).
