Philadelphia Union

Jack of all trades! Jack Elliott makes the MLS Team of the Week for his performance Saturday.

The Union academy keeps producing. Jack De Vries is representing the US at the U17 CONCACAF Championship.

Cinco de Mayo? More like Cinco de Marco! Meet Marco Fabian at Kennett Square on the 5th. (Finally a link that doesn’t involve a Jack).

Kai Wagner and Kacper Pryzbylko have egg on their faces, literally.

Can’t believe its been 10 years since the first home game? Relive it here.

MLS

Sebastian Giovinco who? New man Alejandro Pozuelo is the MLS Player of the Week.

Thierry Henry back to the Red Bulls? Not happening.

The key to scoring a brace? For Albert Rusnak, its dislocating your finger first.

Sometimes it pays off to be selfless. Here’s the best passes of the week.

Kai Wagner isn’t the only one “#SadAboutMyRedCard”. There were a lot around the league.

World

Who’s gonna play striker for the USMNT? John Brooks has a case. Yes you read that correctly.

Speaking of strikers, is Karim Benzema the best in the world?

St. Louis is ready for MLS to expand to 30 teams.

Everyone likes dogs. This one also happens to play soccer.

The USWNT played the 2015 World Cup on turf. Now the USMNT aren’t happy about laying sod over turf in Cincinnati.

  1. USMNT forward/striker I’m most excited by has to be Tim Weah. Perhaps he’s projected to be more of a wing player, but I like everything about him. Pace, great nose for goal…. Seems like he scores for Celtic every time he plays.

I’m with you on this. I think he could go either way – superstar or complete washout. But I don’t think he’s going to have an average career.

I’d love for him to get more minutes at Celtic, but he does seem to be able to find the net. And apparently they love him there. It would be great marketing for the USMNT if he took off while playing for such a traditional Euro team (even if they and the league have fallen on difficult times).

      • Wonder if Rodgers will want him at Leicester…. If PSG don’t want him back. I know there’s a considerable gulf between the Scottish League and the PL, and I wouldn’t want him sitting on a bench as nothing more than squad guy, but it’s a nice idea. And I’m going to entertain it.

  2. 10 years since the first home game. i feel like Jamie Lannister from Game of Thrones: “a Golden Lion who entered the gates of Winterfell with his head held high, he came last week into the Stark home with a cloak drawn round his profile, beleaguered and abandoned.”

I don’t know about all that GOT’s stuff, but I certainly remember that game. Just amazing. Really hope this club can get back to having that kind of support game in and game out. Letoux the Legend.
