  1. Good work Jonathan Tannenwald, although I cannot think of a more tedious way to read that coverage. Maybe if he had sent me text messages one word at a time…

  2. It is truly astounding that Nowak is so delusional that he believed he was wrongfully discharged. His absolute disregard for the well-being of his players is so out of touch with modern medicine that I’m more shocked that none of the players have filed suits against him.
If anyone suffered a greater injury due to his mistreatment, Nowak (as well as the Union) can be found to be willfully negligent.
    .
A part of me believes this is just the beginning. This is going to get louder.
    .
The concussion section has only garnered a small mention from Twellman on Twitter so far. I suspect he’ll have more so in the upcoming days.

    • I believe I saw a tweet from Twellman confirming that Nowak expressed his sentiments regarding concussions verbally to TT on a few occasions. Also interesting was Amobi’s reaction…

  3. el Pachyderm says:

Could be could be could be Christian Pulisic becomes our first world class player.
    .
If that happens… If Christian Pulisic emerges as a dynamic midfielder and becomes CL regular and reaches world class status…he will be a supernova. Here’s hoping his development continues.
    .
Regarding Peter Nowak… Enough with that maniac who set this franchise back 5 years. Bollox to Peter Nowak. How long until he just goes away.
    .
A moment of silence today for Cobbs Creek’s clubhouse…. like it or not that place was a Philadelphia golf icon.

  4. The Nowak stuff. Wow. Just wow.

  5. el Pachyderm says:

When does camp break already… we got Capital Cup we got Copa Cups we got Cups and Cups and all I got is cold coffee in a mug.
    .
This has to change. I can’t take it. We’re talking about college drafts… no 3 picks. Hey Don~ get on it.
    .
    Apertura Clausura.

    • Yes. I want to read about some Union signings and transfers man. That’ll do more to shake out the slumber and ward off the cold than coffee.

  6. On a serious note, can anyone explain the “spanking” incidents to me? Raise a hand if you would let your boss – disregarding the fact that you are a grown man – spank you? I’m waiting…

    • el Pachyderm says:

Well… Am I employed by Elle McPherson by chance?
      .

    • Not mentioned was that Nowak had 50 Shades of Gray on the team’s offseason reading list.

    • I love this site…

    • Nowak spanking players and a bucket of ice with Hackworth and Vartughian taping all for the enjoyment of Veit and Sakiewicz.
      .
My mind is literally blown. Not because I find the behavior offensive or immoral, more so that as a GROWN MAN YOU ALLOWED YOURSELF TO BE SPANKED. Preposterous. Incredulous.
      .
      Just so Union…

      • el Pachyderm says:

Now I guess I have to actually read these documents…. on second thought. Ignorance is always okay too.

      • I would like to believe that if there was videotaping going on, it was simply because Hackworth and Vartughian feared for their jobs or retaliation as well, or it occurred while they were taping for another reason and was caught on tape. At least Hackworth, he seemed like a genuinely good person. Vartughian I can’t speak as much of since I’m not as familiar.

      • Jim Presti says:

Yeah. I *want* to believe that the taping was for some entirely separate purpose and the whole thing was mistakenly filmed. Its – slightly – less creepy that way.

    • The spanking, videotaping, and bucket of ice is mind blowing. But even more disturbing is that an environment existed, where people were afraid to speak up out of fear they’d be traded, released, or otherwise punished.

      • Well apparently Danny Califf was, in fact, traded after complaining, so it seems they had good reason to fear.

  7. Two months until first kick.

  8. I have always said that Nowak’s implosion was the most absurd thing I have ever seen in my entire 3 dozen plus years as an active sports fan. But it seems that it was even worse than I thought. The spanking thing is so ridiculous that I have trouble believing it, for the reason’s Jim Presti mentions above.

    • Jim Presti says:

I’m not saying that the events didn’t transpire, I’m saying that I can’t imagine a world where I would let another man spank me… in the workplace… by a person who happens to be my boss… … in front of others… and on camera… plus the ice bucket.
