An open letter to Robert Pires
Robert Pires says he wants a beautiful city, not Philadelphia. Too bad the Frenchman’s ignorance and big mouth cost him his best chance at getting one in the U.S. Here’s what he’s missing.

What’s a Manchester United fan to do when they come to play his new beloved team, Philadelphia Union?
Danny Mwanga drilled home a cannon shot of a goal in injury time to earn the Union a 1-1 draw in an evenly played match today at the Linc. Both goalkeepers put on terrific displays. We have the highlights and points to take away from the game.
The deals with Celtic and Manchester United were fantastic coups for the Union. After last week’s debacle in Salt Lake we look for reasons for encouragement on the field. Off the field, how about some deals for new players?
Welcome home, Philadelphia Union. After five straight road games (all losses), the Union finally get another home game Saturday, with FC Dallas coming to town. Dallas is clicking on all cylinders but one — they can’t seem to finish. Will that help the Union pull off an upset?
The just announced friendly against Celtic will take place Wednesday, July 14 at 8pm and is included as part of the season ticket package. Pricing and on-sale date for non-season ticket holders will be announced later this month.
At this point in the season, it’s cliched to say that the only thing consistent about the Philadelphia Union is inconsistency. Every game somebody seems to take a step forward while somebody else takes a step back. Kyle Nakazawa got his first start in the midfield while Jack McInerney slotted in next to Moreno up top. Danny Mwanga continued to hold down his spot at left bench.
The Union travel to Utah to face the defending champs, who have struggled just as much as the Union have. Neither team has played to its potential. The Union could be without three regulars, but they still go in with the chance to steal three points from Real Salt Lake.
Manchester United will play the Union on the second stop of their summer tour of North America. Ticket details are yet to be announced.
