Philadelphia Union vs Seattle Sounders 1-0

On July 25th, the Philadelphia Union hosted the Seattle Sounders for a match at Subaru Park. The Union scored in the 31st minute, holding the lead for the rest of the game.

Big moments for the team included Kai Wagner celebrating his 200th start with the team in the opening moments of the pregame. The energy and grit that he brings to the pitch seems to fuel the rest of the team and raises the intensity on the field. Neil Pierre made the first MLS start in his career. Frankie Westfield teamed up with Milan Iloski to score the only goal of the night. This goal is Iloski’s 9th on the season and Westfield’s 5 assist, both lead the team in goals scored and assists. Iloski was also named “Man of the Match” by the Sons of Ben.

With 2 wins in 2 games, the Union is starting a new trend for the 2nd half of the season. The Sons of Ben were lively, chanting, waving flags and even had snow for the “Christmas in July” theme. The rest of the crowd was loud and seemed to be tuned in and enjoying the game. Jovan Lukic’s brother joined the River End and beat the drum for his brother as he left the field.

The Union will play their next game on August 1st at Subaru Park against Atlanta United FC at Subaru Park.
