The Philadelphia Union continued their poor run of form to start the 2026 MLS season with a 1-0 loss to the undefeated San Jose Earthquakes at home on Saturday evening, March 7th. The defending Supporters Shield winners have now gone the first 270 minutes of the 2026 MLS season without scoring a goal in open play (the Union’s only goal on the season came against NYCFC on an Indiana Vassilev penalty) while allowing four goals to opponents.
Conversely, the Union sit behind only FC Cincinnati (13) for goals scored in the CONCACAF Champions Cup (CCC) after scoring 12 aggregate goals against Defence Force FC in the first round of the tournament. The Union will play their next match in the CCC against Club America on Tuesday, back at Subaru Park, looking to find the back of their opponent’s net.
