Saturday’s match against Atlanta United saw the Philadelphia Union let key points slip through their fingers as Atlanta equalized late to split points.

Onto the rankings…

Player ratings:

Andre Blake – 6

An okay night for the man in goal who didn’t have much to do.

Kai Wagner – 7

A good night for Wagner who was effective getting into the attack and recovering defensively.

Jack Elliott – 7

Did a good job limiting opportunities and blocking shots.

Jakob Glesnes – 7

Similarly to Elliott, blocking shots and clearing danger.

Nathan Harriel – 8

A good outing for Harriel to get the Union the lead with an early goal.

Leon Flach  – 6

An average outing for Flach who did well shielding the defense but could have provided more going forward.

Jack McGlynn- 7

Did well connecting passes in a style of game that suits him better. Possesion and passing is where McGlynn thrives.

Quinn Sullivan- 6

A good shift of putting in runs and linking passes for much of the match. Could have provided more attacking wise though.

Daniel Gazdag – 6

An okay night overall but couldnt find the final ball to unclock the Atlanta defense.

Mikael Uhre- 6

Not much for the attack overall but a few good runs for Uhre.

Tai Baribo – 6

Similarly to Uhre, not much to go off for the attack as a whole but nothing glaring sticks out.

Substitutes:

Alejandro Bedoya– 6

Not much chance creation for Beodya and was brought on to help link passes and get the ball up field.

Danley Jean Jacques– 6

Brought on new energy into the midifield to secure the result.

Jeremy Rafanello – 6

Another late sub to see out the result and get some minutes against the organization that let him go.

Sam Adeniran – 5

A short cameo up top for the attacker with not much to show for.

Geiger Counter:

Fotis Bazakos – 6

Typically, if you don’t notice the referee, it means they’re doing a good job. No complaints about the center man on the night.

Player of the Match: Nathan Harriel

In a game where not much attacking prowess was on display, Harriel did well to get a goal and coer defensively. A sound showing in a cagey game.

  1. The bar is set too low.

  2. Vince Devine says:

Given that Harriel was mostly responsible for leaving his man unmarked on the Atlanta goal, he was not man of the match and his rating is too high.

Sullivan’s hustle kept the ball in our offensive zone most of the match.

  3. el Pachyderm says:

The only Philadelphia RB who’s ever been worthy of an eight (8) ~ Raymond Gaddis.
    .
Because Raymond made sure… the other team did not score.
    .
Harriel has some redeemable qualities which the modern footy team values. Gets up the field- has a bit of a clue in possession. and of course the effervescent Philadelphia Union CROSS into the box.
    .
I’d call him on his best day….. a poor defender.
    .
Thank you for the time spent. Just my perspective.

In other news… 12 post game comments ? Danger.
