News roundup: Union stay atop MLS power rankings, US Open Cup second round kicks off

The MLS Power Rankings have the Union as the top club for the second week in a row.

Head coach Jim Curtin likened Julian Carranza to NYCFC’s Taty Castellanos after Saturday’s match against Charlotte FC.

Despite facing what Kevin De Bruyne called a ‘5-5-0’ formation deployed by Atletico Madrid, Manchester City found the back of the net to take the first leg of their Champions League tie, winning 1-0.  Full highlights here.

  1. The idea of USL competing with MLS is totally welcome, particularly if CLOWN Garber continues talking of a SuperLeague with Liga MX… MLigaSMX or whatever.

    That League would be HIS ego and money talking, justifying increased ticket prices in Chester for what? Euro players who should be retired like HIGUIAN?

    NO THANK YOU. Bring on USL with promotion, relegation lined up with global futbol, freezing some games in Jan and Feb… just like the last two games at Subaru, right?
