The game went into the second half with the score tied at one a piece and both teams looking for breakthrough, which Brothers of the Gourd finally found at the 83rd minute when they were able to jump ahead again with a goal from their #8. With not much time left on the clock, Barenjager showed great attitude to get an equalizer, which they found in the last breath of the game when #22 Goodwill tied the score for the final time and grabbed them a last minute point. This is Brothers of the Gourd first point of the season, and they will look to build on that for next game when they face SJ Gentleman. Meanwhile, Barenjager are now unbeaten in their last there games and will put that streak to the test against an in-form Fishtown FC next game.

Kensington SC Blue Bell 0 – 2 Bluestar Legends

With two wins in their last two games, Bluestar Legends set out to make it three in a row against a Kensington SC Blue Bells, who were coming off a tough result in their previous match. The Legends started a men down but, with just six minutes on the clock, Brian Bowers assisted #3 Alex King to put them ahead, despite the man disadvantage. From there on, Kensington tried to even the scoring while they had an advantage in numbers, but the Legends gritted it out and defended their lead as their missing players joined the action throughout the half. In the second half, and with eleven players on the pitch for both teams, Bluestars Legends started to look better and eventually found a second goal through #15 Malik, who was assisted by Grycel in the 66th minute. The Legends managed to keep a clean sheet to secure a 2-0 win, their 3rd win in a row. They’ll look to make four next week when they face Berber United, a team with a growing reputation as a tough match up. Kensington Blue Bells face Cracovia in their next game, with both teams in need of a win.

Roy Kent FC 0 – 1 SJ Gentleman

SJ Gentleman came into this game against Roy Kent FC looking to keep their form which had them with a perfect record and without having conceded a goal in their first 3 matches. SJ Gentleman looked like the slightly better team in the first half but Roy Kent FC put up a great battle and managed to get to the half still even. Going into the second half, SJ Gentleman defense look solid but they still need to break the deadlock which they eventually did in the 65th minute with goal from #21 Fanini. SJ Gentleman kept looking for a second goal which they could not find but their strong defense managed to keep the clean sheet on to get them a win in this competitive but clean game. With the result SJ Gentleman is now leader of the standings with a perfect record which they will look to keep when they face Brothers of the Gourd next week. Washed Up United 5 – 0 Liberty City FC

After putting seven past their last opponent, Washed Up United was ready to face a Liberty City FC side coming off a tie against Barenjager SC. It was back to business for Washed Up United as soon as the game started, as #18 Lugar scored midway through the first half. Washed Up kept attacking and found a second one near the end of the first half through #11 Primich. During the second half, the attacks kept coming from Washed Up United but they had some trouble finishing them until the last fifteen minutes of the game, during which they scored three goals, including a brace from #1 Yates and another one from #11 Primich to seal a 5-0 victory and secure another three points. Washed Up United now leads the league in goals scored and will look to keep their offense running against Roy Kent FC next week. Oaklyn United 3 – 1 Berber United

Berber United came into the game as one of two undefeated teams in the division, and was ready to put that record up for a test against a good Oaklyn United team. Oaklyn looked to bounce back from their defeat last week, and they looked feisty early as they forced a couple of good saves from Berber’s keeper, before opening up the scoring in the 12th minute when a shot deflected off of #7 Moore to find the back of the net. After a lucky first goal, #7 Moore found the back of the net again, this time with a lovely back heel off a cross by Mbu. Oaklyn expanded their lead when Pastore played #19 Hendrickson through the middle for a one-on-one with the keeper, who he chipped for the 3rd goal of the game. Berber United were able to get on the scoreboard late in the second half through #99 Akik, but it would not be enough to come back as Oaklyn secured the win. Berber United lost their undefeated record, but remains tied for second in the standings and will look to bounce back next week when they face Bluestars Legends. As for Oaklyn United, they are also part of that group tied for second place, and will look to gain separation when they face Liberty City FC next week.

Goals: Oaklyn United – #7 Moore (12’,35’), #19 Hendrickson (12’) Berber United – #99 Akik (80’) Yellow Cards: Berber United #6 Ait Ben Ali Man Of The Match : Swanson (8)

Cracovia 1 – 12 Fishtown FC

It was a one sided affair at Bristol Municipal Park where Fishtown FC got their second win of the season against Cracovia. Fishtown got ahead early through #16 Carnevalle, who scored in the 2nd minute of the game, and then #77 Jaime Ely, who followed up just a minute later. It was a hurricane of goals as #11 Gulama scored on the 4th minute, before Carnevalle scored his second in the 5th and a third in the 7th. While it looked like the game was already decided with those five goals in the first ten minutes, Fishtown did not stop there and scored three more before the end of the half. A bit of consolation for Cracovia came at the 22nd minute when Wayns found the back of the ent to put them on the scoreboard. As the second half opened, the intensity dropped a bit as Fishtown held a comfortable lead and Cracovia had no subs available. Fishtown went on to score four more in the second half with both #16 Carnevalle and #11 Gulama finishing the game with four goals each, while #77 Jamie Ely also got a hat-trick. Fishtown will enjoy that result as they prepare for a tougher challenge next week against Barenjager SC. Meanwhile, Cracovia will look to get their first points of the season against Kensington Blue Bells.

CUARTO:

FC Delta 1 – 1 Leaders FC

Two teams hungry for a win, having both tied their previous matches, made for an interesting game at Bryn Athyn College. Leaders FC were the better team in the first half and capitalized in the 19th minute with a goal through #15 Yague to open up the scoring, and held the lead going into halftime. The second half was a different story as FC Delta rallied and looked for an equalizer, which they eventually found in the 65th minute with a goal from #80 Durant. The closing twenty-five minutes were well contested. Both teams looked for a go-ahead goal to get them the three points but were unable to find it and the game ended up in a draw. For FC Delta, the draw leaves them with five points in four games, and look forward to facing the tough FC Sköge next week. Leaders FC, meanwhile, will face Club Sandwich in a game between two teams that are looking to avoid the relegation zone.

Goals: FC Delta: #80 Durant (65’) Leaders FC: #15 Yague (19’) Cards: None MOTM: Leaders FC ; #15 Yague

FC Neman 2 – 1 Club Sandwich

Undefeated in two games, FC Neman met Club Sandwich in an afternoon game with hopes of keeping its undefeated start to the season. Club Sandwich has had a less than ideal start to their season, but they were looking to turn things around in this game to move away from the bottom of the standings. It was a very contested game as both teams looked for the three points but in the end the physicality of FC Neman won out. They left with a 2-1 victory that keeps them tied for second in the league. They’ll have their eyes on the first spot held by Vidas Fc, who they will face next week. For Club Sandwich, this is another frustrating loss in a tough start to the season, which they will try to turn around in their next game against Leaders FC: a battle between two teams desperate for points.

Goals: FC Neman: #13 15’; #3 53’ Club Sandwich: #9 Chris Brown Yellow Cards: FC Neman: #91 (64’), #7 (76’) , #9 (86’) MOTM – #9 Chris Brown

FC Sköge 1 -0 Box to Box FC

After losing their undefeated status in their previous game, FC Sköge wanted to get back on track with a victory against a Box to Box FC side who had lost two of their first three matches. It was a hotly contested game but fought fairly as both teams tried to play to the best of their abilities. The first half did not see much action and it was not until the second half that Sköge found the breakthrough. The only goal in the game came from FC Sköge’s top scorer Weah in the 57th minute, which would be enough for them to get the win. FC Sköge remains firmly in the battle for playoff spots and will look to solidify their spot next week when they face Delta FC. Box to Box FC will face Philly Falcons next week in a match between two teams looking to climb the standings.

Goals: Skoge: Weah (57’) Cards: none MoTM: Skoge, Weah

Dead Ball SC 6 – 3 Philly Falcons

The teams met at Ben Johnston Field for a very entertaining game that had goals aplenty. Philly Falcons started a bit sloppy as early mistakes saw them go down two goals in the first ten minutes: the goals scored by Dead Ball’s #8 Illia and #11 Bordia. From then on Dead Ball took control of the game, and, as the Falcons pushed forward to look for a goal, Dead Ball took advantage of the space left behind to get a third just before halftime, courtesy of #11 Bordia. Dead Ball started the second half just like they finished the first, scoring another early goal, this time through #8 Ilia. Dead Ball would score back to back goals midway through the second half to make it six, which turned out to be important as the Falcons would rally to get three goals in the last fifteen minutes of the game in an impressive effort that unfortunately would not be enough for a comeback. The result leaves Dead Ball tied for 2nd position in the league right now with their next game bing against Philly Skyliners. The Falcons will look to have a better start in their next game against Box to Box FC, as a win could see them climb into the playoff spots.

Goals: Dead Ball SC: #8 Ilia(7’,55’), #11 Bordia (8’,44’), #5 Schoenblum (79’), #13 Staudenmeyer (77’) Philly Falcons: #11 Eddie (78’,84’), #35 Johnny(82’) Yellow cards: Dead Ball SC: #5 Schoenblum (81’) MOTM: Dead Ball SC #11 Bordia

Sporting Philly 1 – 3 Vidas FC

It was a match between two teams coming off opposite runs of form as undefeated Vidas FC faced off against a Sporting Philly side still looking for their first points of the season. Vidas did not want to miss step in the run for 1st place and starting quickly with goal from #19 Southwell in the 7th minute. Sporting Philly found an equalizer in the 38th minute through #5 Nomane, but Vidas quickly replied through #21 Elwood just before the end of the half. Vidas were the better team during the second half, enjoying the better chances. They capitalized in the 67th minute through #69 Bortone to give them a cushion for the last 20 minutes. Three goals proved enough for Vidas to move to the top spot in the table, and they will now prepare to defend that position against another undefeated team in FC Neman. Sporting Philly remain winless, and their next chance for some points will come against Rebels FC.

Goals: Sporting Philly FC: #5 Nomane (38’) Vidas FC: #19 Southwell (7’), #21 Elwood (41’), #69 Bortone (67’) Yellow cards: Sporting Philly – #5 Noname (89’) Vidas FC: #19 Southwell (20’), #19 Southwell (second yellow/ red card 89’) MOM team Sporting Philly FC is #69 Bortone

QUINTO:

Aston Phila FC (A) 2 at Inter Phila (H) 1

Undefeated Aston Phila FC proved once again why they are the team to beat in the Quinto as they put on a clinic against Inter Phila for the majority of their week four matchup. A 2-1 final score does not reflect the sheer dominance that Aston Phila FC held over Inter Phila. Were it not for some great goalkeeping from Inter, who somehow saved the barrage of shots that were actually on target, Aston could have ran away with it early on. Inter Phila, who are known to be one of the more physical teams, showed their passion by playing hard and going after every loose ball and win every ball in the air. Their aggressive style of play did end up costing them as one of their went out with a serious head injury after a collision with the Aston Phila striker. With Aston sitting back more, Inter took advantage and powered their way through their defense to pull one back with just under fifteen minutes to go. They would see a potential equalizer miss the mark by a matter of inches as Aston Phila escape with their fourth win of the season. They remain one of only two unbeaten teams in Quinto. Inter Phila suffer their first loss of the season in a hard fought match that could have easily ended up as a come from behind draw. Regardless, Inter Phila will be pleased that they played hard and left it all out on the pitch, and will surely look to get a rebound win next week.

Still Processing FC 0 at Mighty Ducks 3

Mighty Ducks enjoyed a big 6-0 victory last week and Still Processing FC were on the losing end of 6-0 score line in their match against Aston Phila in week three. Still Processing FC leaned on their keeper once again to keep the match as close as possible as the Ducks took a ton of shots to forced a lot of saves. Creating few offensive chances, Still Processing FC attempted to park the bus to limit the goal scoring chances for the Ducks. In the end, however, the Ducks found a way through. Capt #6 Nick Green got himself a brace and Man of the Match honors. The Ducks consigned Still Processing to second straight loss, while they remain unbeaten this season—a draw their only blemish in the standings.

Mark Wahlberg’s Cousins FC 3 at Honey Badgers FC 1

Coming off a pair of big wins, Mark Wahlbergs Cousins FC and Honey Badgers FC battled it out for the first thirty minutes with neither team being able to finish their chances in and around the penalty area. Cousins finally broke down the defense of the Badgers, combining for quick one-two touch passing that resulted in a pair of goals in the 38th and 40th minute to give them the 2-0 lead heading into halftime. A mistake by the Badgers captain would result in Cousins’ third goal, after Johnson was shown a yellow for committing a slide in the box. Badgers would pull one back through their speedy winger, #17 H. Martinez, who broke free and put his team on the board, spoiling their opponents chance at getting the second clean sheet of the season in the process. The Badgers had their chances but failed to convert, which was in part due to the stellar performance of MWC’s brick wall of a keeper, who made a ton of great saves and kept his team’s lead secure. MWC have played considerably better this season and are making a real push to remain at the top of the standings, while the Honey Badgers offensive struggles continue, as they struggle to show the form that secured them the Spring division title in Sexto.

– GOALS: HONEY BADGERS: #17 MARTINEZ 56′ WAHLBERG: #33 ANZUR 38′ ; #9 HRITZ 40′ ; #28 OLIVERA 50′. YELLOW CARDS: HONEY BADGERS: #9 JOHNSON 4TH MIN OF 2ND HALF–SLIDE TACKLE IN THE BOX. WAHLBERG: NONE. MAN OF MATCH: #0 DONNIE WAHLBERG – GK

Grapes FC 3 at La juve 6

After suffering 4-1 defeats in week 3, both Grapes FC and La juve looked to bounce back in week four. #10 Javier started well for La Juve and snagged himself two goals in the 6th and 7th minute, catching the Grapes off guard with his speed and ball control. Those goals would augur trouble for Grapes, as his skillful play would cause them defensive headaches for the rest of the game. La juve would grab a 3-0 lead with another goal in the 12th minute. Their defense having been in disarray, Grapes FC closed the gaps to rally back to get goals in the 39′ and 42′ minute to cut La juve’s lead to just a single goal at they end the first half. With the comeback looking possible, Grapes FC carried on their momentum from the first half, coming out of the break with a high press that resulted in a quick game tying goal just a few minutes into the second half in the 48′ minute. Grapes FC, however, would fall behind once again La Juve’s dynamic duo, #10 Javier and #9 Luvicana, linked up for a trio of goals in under ten minutes, putting the game out of reach to earn their first victory of the season. The result sees Grapes FC drop back to back games. Heading into the middle of the season, their task will be shoring up a shaky back line that has allowed more than ten goals in the past two games.

– GOALS: LA JUVE: JAVIER 6’, 7’, 62’,68’ LUVICANA -12′, 60 CIFUENTOS 78′ GRAPES FC: WATERS 39, #2 STOLTZ 42’, GOLDBERG 48’ YELLOW CARDS: TEAM A: #2 STOLTZ-USB-87′ MOM,(MAN OF MATCH): LA JUVE: JAVIER

SEXTO:

Philadelphia Strikers 1 at FC BTC 1

With their defense giving up eight goals in their first two matches, the Philadelphia Strikers went with a defensive line up and were able to hold FC BTC until the 75th minute. A scoreless first half saw few chances, but the Strikers broke through in the 55th minute to take the 1-0 lead. That lead lasted for roughly 20 minutes until a defensive error in the box led to a PK being awarded to FC BTC in the 75th minute. #47 Bernstein converted for his team to secure the draw. Having only two wins so far this season against teams at the bottom of the standings, this should have been an easy win for the normally consistent FC BTC who have run into a bit of bad form, having thus far been able to duplicate the offense they produced last season. The Strikers look forward to a tough run of games in the coming weeks: with three of their next four matches are against teams in the top of the standings, they may rue dropping points here by settling for the draw.

– GOALS: FC BTC:(47) ALEX BERNSTEIN 75 MIN (PK). PHILLY STRIKERS:(19) TORONI STEVE 55 MIN. MAN OF THE MATCH:(36) HARDIMAN FOSTER ( PHILLY STRIKERS)

SoB Athletic 0 at Boys Do Cry FC 2

After allowing seven unanswered goals in their last match, S.O.B Athletic entered this game aiming play a more defensive minded and conservative match against a Boys Do Cry team who suffered a heart breaking loss last week, having conceded a game winner in the 87th minute. With only one goal scored coming into their week four match, the S.O.B’s conservative approach did little to improve their offense. Boys Do Cry came out in a 4-3-3 that proved too much for the S.O.B’s five-man backline, who were under pressure for the majority of the match. However, poor finishing by the Boys would see what seemed like thirty shots saved, blocked, or go just wide of goal. Even with great goal keeping limiting the Boys to just the two goals, the S.O.B lost their fourth match in as many weeks. With a another game in the bag with no goals put into the ol’ onion bag, it might be time for the S.O.B’s to change their plan to hold possession and create more chances. Boys Do Cry battle back to get a redemption win but only time will tell if this 2-0 victory will erase the memories of a come back win that turned into a disappointing loss the week before.

– Goals: Boys Do Cry (2) #12 Jude Roche 65th minute #22 Corey Aramson 88 minute Yellow Cards None Red Cards None MOM: SOB Athletics Goalie Kevin King

Bench Mob FC 2 at Green Street Hooligans 1

The previously undefeated Green Street Hooligans are no fans of early matches, as GSH captain and prolific goal scorer, Anthony Ky observed when he commented on giving up two early goals that led to 8th place Bench Mob FC upsetting 2nd place GSH. “Half our team goes to bed at 2am,” admitted Ky, which could explain Bench Mob scoring from two set pieces early in the match as the defense appeared tired and guilty of ball watching. GSH would have their chances to equalize after GSH’s captain curled in a shot from the corner of the penalty area that floated past the finger tips of Bench Mobs’ goalie. Bench Mob FC’s defense held strong in the second half and kept GSH at bay to secure their first win of the season and hand GSH their first lost. With more than a few early games in the future for GSH, Captian Ky should heed the advice of this “journo” and try to get himself and his team eight hours of rest or risk a similar outcome. Bench Mob will look to build on their first victory next week by handing out another wake up call—pun intended.

GOALS: GREEN STREET HOOLIGANS; (10) KY ANTHONY. BENCH MOB FC:(07) SEAN MAHER 10 MIN/ (07) SEAN MAHER 15 MIN. YELLOW CARDS: BENCH MOB FC: (26) LAUT DEVON 51 MIN (BAD SLIDE TACKLE) ./ (17) SEAN WILMOT 70 MIN (BAD SLIDE TACKLE). MAN OF THE MATCH:: (07) SEAN MAHER (BENCH MOB FC).

Dyslexia Untied 5 at Kensington SC BIG C.A.T.S 0

Still waiting to get their first goal of the season, Kensington SC kept their week four matchup against Dyslexia Untied close in the first half, having only given up one goal in the #26th minute. The backline of Kensington SC played well in the first half and really put the clamps on Dyslexia, who could not get anything going in the final third and were growing increasingly frustrated at missing the chances they were able to create. The second half was all Dyslexia Untied, however, who moved one of their midfielders into a more central attacking role that challenged Kensington’s backline to pick up the extra man. The tactical chance produced four goals as Dyslexia cruised to their first win of the season. Perhaps more disappointingly for Kensington, their offensive woes continue as they are yet to register a goal this season.

– Goals: Kensington: N/A Dyslexia: #9 Fava ’26 ’60, #8 Castillo ’66 ’74, #7 Chali ’82 Yellow Cards: N/A Red Cards: N/A MoM,(Man of Match): Dyslexia #9 Fava

Telle Bouche FC 0 at Philly Athletic Club 3

With both Telle Bouche FC and Philly Athletic Club enjoying unbeaten records, their week four match up lived up to the hype as it was filled with plenty of near misses, beautiful team goals, and lots of great 50/50 challenges and one-on-one match ups. Philly A.C. jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 30 minutes into the first half and enjoyed most of the possession in the Telle Bouche’s half, who did well to limit Philly A.C but could not make the most of their transitions from defense to offense early on. Telle Bouche would find their footing halfway through the match and really put a lot of pressure on the defense of Philly A.C., but ultimately could not find the net and were shut out for a second straight week. Philly A.C got their third clean sheet of the season and their mean defense has only allowed one goal in four matches so far. With a defense and goalkeeper playing this well, an offense that ranks top in goals scored, its fair to speculate this may be the only season in Sexto for Philly A.C, if they can keep up their winning ways.
