News roundup: Elliott named to Team of Week, MLS Week 13 action, Gold Cup group action wraps up

Philadelphia Union 

If you missed it, the Union defeated D.C. United 2-1 Saturday night in Chester.

Jack Elliott has made the MLS Team of the Week for his performance Saturday night. 

The Union are back in action Thursday night in Orlando on ESPN.

A takeaway for each team after Week 13 action.

What changes is Rob Valentino bringing to Atlanta United.

Hany Mukhtar notched a 16 minute hat trick, and Player of the Week.

Columbus will host Cruz Azul in Campeones Cup on September 29th.

Gold Cup

Andre Blake, Cory Burke and Alvas Powell will look to get Jamaica a win over Costa Rica to top their Gold Cup group. 

While Suriname and Guadeloupe will finish up their Gold Cup tonight.

Honduras and Qatar will battle for the top spot in Group D.

While Panama and Grenada will wrap up the Gold Cup group stage.

    There’s one other somewhat important game in the next 24 hours, At 4:30am EDT (5:30pm Japan time) the USWNT opens their Olympic tournament against Sweden who knocked them out of the tournament in the quarterfinals in Rio.

  3. I watched highlights of the Mukhtar hat trick against Chicago and then the Montreal comeback against Cincinnati. Shockingly bad defending in both. Oof. Gives you a lot of extra appreciation for what we have in Philadlephia.

    Rumors of spending on a young DP is interesting. If either of them came to be this team would have quite a bit of depth through out the lineup. Tanner looks like he’s looking at making a run at more silverware.
