Both McKenzie and Aaronson made the US roster for the Nations League. Nice to have some Union alumni presence there!

  2. After such a long reign in the Bundesliga’s top tier, Werder Bremen deserved relegation this time. It survived relegation last season only by winning the relegation playoff and only achieved 1 point in its last 10 matches this season. Rebuilding is certainly the task at hand.

On the other hand, I was glad to see some former East German teams in the mix such as Union Berlin finishing 7th in the Bundesliga and qualifying for the Europa Conference League. That team has gone from off the grid to a force in the past few cycles. Hansa Rostock and Dynamo Dresden made it back to the Bundesliga 2 where it joins Erzgebirge Aue.

    • I’m a huge Bayern fan, and happy we won again, but I’m even happier that RB Leipzig didn’t win with all the crap they are pulling with ownership.
      .
Also – what are the chances that Aaronson follows Marsch to Leipzig?

      • Agreed on RB Leipzig. It’s almost an unwritten rule that German fans support their own team and whomever is playing RB Leipzig, and not merely because RB Leipzig is competitive.
        . . .
Given Germany’s troubled and complicated history to put it kindly where even the soccer club histories involve ‘family trees’, the last thing German soccer fans wanted was a showcase commercial advertisement team.
        . . .
Aaronson and Marsch are closely bonded and Aaronson is already in the RB network so I’d say there’s a decent chance he’ll go to there. That said, Aaronson should diplomatically take a pass on it. Americans will follow him wherever he goes, and going there will hurt him on his advertising value with the German fan base.
