the url above links to Ben Baer’s estimates of the protected and unprotected rosters for the expansion draft.
    .
The Union have 8 homegrowns/GAs as do two others, RSL lead with 9.

Baer does not protect Cory Burke and Michee Ngalina, and does protect Olivier Mbaizo and Ilsinho.

  3. Anyone else out there think the Thierry Henry hire is odd? He has very little managing experience and his only stint in charge of a team was a complete disaster. Unequivocally a fantastic player, but that doesn’t make a good manager.

    • It depends on how predictive you think his stint with Monaco was. Before joining Monaco, I believe that many people considered him a promising potential manager. (He worked with the Arsenal youth teams before spending a few years on the Belgium staff.) Of course, Monaco was a total disaster. But he’s still young, French-speaking (in Montreal, a big plus), and undoubtedly has cachet. I would agree that there’s risk there but I see why Montreal did it.

      • Agreed Peter. The last time Montreal was talked about in the off season was when Drogba came and went. There’s Piatti, who is good and all, but he’s not moving the needle. Both sides get something from this. Henry another shot at managing and Montreal a name.

      • Typical Sapputo move – big gamble but I could see it paying off.

Needless to say, I’m pulling for Henry… and hell since the league has displayed it’s one big happy family -often times advertising for one another on there very own social media platforms — I see ZERO conflict of interest here.

For those of you unawares … that’s sardony.
