Philadelphia Union

The club rewarded Jim Curtin with a two-year contract extension.

U.S. Open Cup

The fairy tales are over: After an early Santi Moar goal for New Mexico United, Minnesota United went off for a 6-1 win.

Same goes for Saint Louis FC. Atlanta United posted a 2-0 win at the Benz.

A late Jeremy Ebobisse goal put Portland through to the semis.

Orlando City took NYCFC to PKs and won.

This is savage:

  1. Some enjoyable game in Orlando last night. Orlando’s goalie killed it!

Saw the girls float around NYC in a $97MM boat the night before the parade. Unbelievable they made it to the Parade.

Alex Morgan somehow won the best female athlete last night. Shiffrin got robbed after achieving a lot more than Morgan. https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2019/06/18/mikaela-shiffrin-alpine-skiing-goals/

I noticed that Kljestan got suspended for a second game. Hope Monteiro is back before then, especially since that’s the same suspension that Fabian and Wagner got when no one was injured by their fouls. And this one was announced more than 24 hours before the extra game.

So it doesn’t just happen to Union players!

Oh no wait… we still got screwed 12 ways from Sunday. Oh well.

Trying to end Carlos Coronel’s loan early to clear cap space and get an international spot? Hmm, I wonder what Ernst has eyes on to replace him with? Good sign for Matt Freese who has clearly become the backup.

Agree on all accounts… and to be totally blunt, playing on a college turf campus where the other team sits at the end of the 100m track eating orange slices in the shade next to the equipment barn is a bit ignominious…. for a keeper of his pedigree.

If it was me… ida sought Mr Tanner out immediately and said… set the caged bird in yellow (with excellent feet) free…. this ain’t happening to my career.

Orange slices….right up there with the yearly beef and beer to fund the new uniforms and club fees. lol

Would love to see them renovate that stadium and play there if they can’t find a solution in Bethlehem. Since it is just ten minutes from my house. The rebrand would be needed though.

      • HopkinsMD says:

Pure speculation—Imagining his agent contacted the team to ask what they could do to make this happen. The optics are not good for anyone unless Salzburg asks Philadelphia to have him back.

    • According to quotes from Tanner, Salzburg requested him back. However, there was no recall option included in the 1 year loan deal worked out between the clubs so that is what is being “worked out”.

      Had the same thoughts…

So the USOC quarters went well for us, kinda. So glad NYCFC had their hearts broken, and Atlanta will likely be tired when we face them if they keep advancing in the tourney. I actually would’ve liked to see LAFC advance, given chasing 3 trophies would’ve really handicapped them. And imagine the pressure they would’ve faced in the MLS Cup, with a win the only thing standing between all time great and failure when it mattered. But hey, an LAFC loss is still an LAFC loss. I’ll take it

  5. Peanut Gallery says:

Thank you, Carlos. Wishing you all success as you return to Salzburg.
