It finally happened this year. Ilsinho, Jim Curtin and everyone else embraced the role that Ilsinho was meant for the day he arrived at Philadelphia Union: the filthiest and most dangerous super-sub to ever step on an MLS field.
Nearly after a week after Ilsinho led the Union to an exhilarating 3-2 comeback win over the New York Red Bulls, it’s time for us to pull together all the various nicknames you’ve thrown at him and pick one that is the best of them all.
Check out the poll below.
[poll id=”87″]
We’ve collated some of the nicknames we’ve seen some of you bestow upon Ilsinho, and we’ve asked our staff for some more ideas. Among the ideas:
- Cheat Code: Because “up up down down left right left right B A select start” wins every game, including MLS.
- The Can Opener: Because nobody cracks open a bunkered defense like Ilsinho.
- Jogo de Woao: Portugenglish!
- And so on.
Vote for your favorite! And share your better ideas in the Comments section, because we know you have some.
The Brazilian Ben Affleck
I suggested this one to Dan, but it didn’t make the poll. Alas.
This is great and should’ve made the poll
“Ill-seein’-you-later”
i vote for none. Ilsinho is building a solid legacy. his “nickname” is redundant.
you’re fun at parties.

Well Ilsinho is a nickname meaning “little Ilson.” He tried to drop it a season or two ago (to be known as Ilson Jr.) and nobody respected his wishes.
.
That said, I like ILLsinho, as others have said.
