Players of the Week: Selmir Miscic and Brandan Craig

In a week where so many players impressed it was hard to choose someone, we decided to go with youth.

Brandan Craig, Union Academy U15 defender and U.S. youth international.

Philadelphia Union U15 player Brandan Craig and Selmir Miscic are PSP’s Players of the Week.

Let’s start with Craig, who earns this recognition for the first time.

Craig is a 14-year-old defender and U15 youth international playing with the Union Academy and who previously played for Lighthouse and Fishtown. (For a good article on Craig, click here.)

On Saturday, Craig scored two goals off free kicks against New York City FC’s U15 side, first blasting a cannon shot left of the NYC wall and into the corner of the net and later curling a shot around the right of the wall to secure the Union’s win.

Union Academy striker Selmir Miscic

Miscic is a 15-year-old attacker who was on the bench for the Union senior side in a friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt earlier this year.

The youth international scored a brace against NYC on Saturday with a penalty and a late winner and also handed out an assist on teammate Julian Anderson’s goal. This marks the second time Miscic has been recognized this year.

Honorable mention
  • Cory Burke. The Union remain undefeated in all competitions when he starts. His goal against Orlando showed his aerial dominance. (Imagine if Borek Dockal hadn’t left that game early with an injury.)
  • Fafa Picault. Two goals. Awesome lines about how the Union don’t suck anymore. Winning our hearts and minds with truth bombs and goal bombs.
