Player of the Week

Players of the Week: Selmir Miscic and Patrick Bohui

After a weekend when it seemed that Andre Blake would basically cement this award for the rest of the year after his excellent shot-stopping couldn’t paper over his team’s failures, we’ve decided to go in a different direction.

Philadelphia Union Academy players Selmir Miscic and Patrick Bohui are PSP’s Players of the Week.

A week after the dynamic duo of teenage forwards bagged two goals apiece, they’re now in Italy with the U16 boys U.S. National Team for the Torneo delle Nazioni in Gradisca d’Isonzo, near Trieste.

Today, their squad plays Italy, followed by Libya on Thursday and Croatia on Friday.

The U.S. won the 16-team tourney last year.

Miscis hails from Royersford, Pa., after moving to the region from Vermont. Bohui lives in Philadelphia but is originally from Ivory Coast. Each was in camp with the U16s in March and will now look to make an impact on a bigger stage.

Honorable mention

Andre Blake. We could give this award to Blake every week at this rate, particularly if he keeps playing behind a back line almost as young as Miscic and Bohui. He made some solid saves Saturday against Dallas, but the Union goalkeeper can’t do it all by himself.

  1. Anyone else find the humor in Miscic’s name vis-a-vis his profession? Mis-kick? (Yea, I know, it’s probably pronounced Mis-chick or Mish-ick, but I couldn’t resist.)
