Philadelphia Union officially released their updates kits. Spoiler alert: They’re the same jerseys that were leaked already. However, their updated badge was unexpected.

The Union also announced an open training January 27 before the team heads down to Clearwater.

MLSSoccer’s Matt Doyle ran through every team’s roster moves and status. Here’s the Union’s.

After a pretty solid season last year, Oguchi Onyewu wants to keep playing. He feels he should be given a chance, but if not, he’s got backup plans.

  1. I’m still waiting to see this increased-spending Jay Sugarman promised… and a #10.

  2. PSST…there’s no link to Tannenwald’s story about soccer stats!

Doyle’s article was fine until he started in about how we had #10s on the roster and the final “Trust the Process” line is pure crap.
    .
Unlike almost every other fanbase in the country, Philly fans absolutely have proven that we can Trust the Process when there is a real process. The fanbase never wanted the Colangelos — that was a league office panic.
    .
The Union are not showing us a process. They are showing us the back of their hand, and a growing Sugarman Wallet.

    • A technical and picky point, we won’t know what David Accam’s new Salary is until mid-may, so we aren’t sure what his new contract represents.

      • However, we do know they haven’t signed a 10 or any player from outside the organization.

      • Section 114 (Former) says:

I’m sure he’s being paid fairly. But if he’s paid the kind of money that interferes with another signing, the deal was a debacle.
        .
They had five needs this season: CAM, winger, LB starter, CB depth, and a replacement/successor for Blake. All needed to be addressed, and not having the money for those was a sign of cheapness not frugality.
        .
Right now they addressed two, with Accam and the Blake extension.
        .
I get hoping you have CB depth with all the pieces on the roster.
        .
But there are two gaping holes right now and they start camp TOMORROW.

      • I would not be expecting CB depth if I were you because it isn’t coming. I fully expect a #10 from somewhere, but I think that’s all the help coming. Curtin is going to be forced to play the young kids.

  4. John P. O'Donnell Jr says:

The one leak we do have is that one more player, a number ten is coming and that’s it. This was mentioned on draft day and if Ernie who doesn’t let anything leak said it, I’d imagine they are still working on the details. My best guess is it’s a young DP/TAM/GAM level player possibly on loan with a right to buy like they’ve done in the past with Fernando Aristeguieta. Hopefully this happens before they leave for Florida or worst case playing preseason games.
