Philadelphia Union

The Union are roughly on pace to finish with the same point total as last season, but last season’s point total won’t get to the playoffs this year.

The Union’s summer silence was deafening.

A look at the Union’s winter cap/contract situation.

Get to know San Jose.

FC Cincinnati jumped out to a 2-0 lead against NY Red Bulls with goals from Union #121 Corben Bone and #84 Austin Berry but could not hold on and lost 3-2 in extra time in front of a sellout crowd of over 33,000.

Playoff odds for every MLS team. The Union are at 7%.

The top coaching moves of this past weekend.

Colorado Rapids boss Pablo Mastroeni was sacked, because when you’re a limited coach and have one good season out of four, you get sacked.

Vancouver suffered a blow, as Matias Laba is officially out for the season.

Kaká has a measured response to his red card.

Sacramento may get passed over again.

Around the globe

Scores from the first playoff round of the Champions League. Brief recaps and highlights.

The list of cities that are part of the North America 2026 World Cup bid was released, and Philadelphia (Lincoln Financial Field) was among the candidates.

If PSG ran afoul of FFP with the Neymar signing, there will not be penalties for at least a year.

Highlight of the day

You can’t trust a man with two first names, but how about one with three? Make sure to stick around for at least the first alternate angle.

  1. Oh, the burn on that Mastroeni comment… ooooo, it hurts.

Bone and Berry last night. jimmy mclaughlin On that team too. Sad to see FCC lose, especially the way it happened and to the Red Bulls

    • Yeah, I was seriously hoping those guys could finish it off. Cincy had their chances to win that game even after it was tied.

    • For most of the 2nd half and extra time Cincinnati just could not bring the ball out of their half due to poor passes, except for 2-3 chances. At one point the ball was cleared off the line by a defender when a pass to McLaughlin would have tied the game and forced penalties… Cruel but very Union-like how Cincinnati fell apart in the latter stages of the game.
Was great to see Berry score. And how: attacking a great corner! Wish the Union would attack corners like that and thereby score with more of them.
Was amazing to see how the zillions of fans walked from the bars circa 1 mile to the stadium. Wish we had such a stadium location: would then also fill a 30,000 stadium with the right team.

    Best. Comment. Ever.
