  1. I’m just curious, but has anyone seen what actually happened to Matheus Silva? I’ve read at least two articles that mention he was pulled from the water and resuscitated, but no mention of what actually happened.

Thank you to Bruce Arena for giving Chris a needed rest IMO. I’m as of yet unable to figure how one finds his way into or out of Jim Curtin’s starting XI….so this is a forced necessity.

    • What do you mean. It’s pretty easy to tell. Each position has requirements. Curtin requires the wingers to play defense. With Herbers out this only leaves our options as Pontius and Fafa and Epps as a sub. I’m not arguing this is right but it’s the requirement.
      .
Also we have had the entire backline, our striker, 1 winger, and our attacking midfielder switched out from the start of the year because of poor play.

    • Dan Walsh says:

Created at least six goals this year, leads the league in aerial duels, plays two ways … clearly not having the same season he had last year, but I let’s not underestimate him too much.

      • Yeah, His scoring touch has unfortunately been lost for the time being but he hasn’t been terrible. I still contend that not having Pontius, Rosenberry, and Bedoya with the team during preseason destroyed all chemistry to start the year and is a big reason we dug such a deep hole to start.

      • Zizouisgod says:

Agreed and he switched to right wing from his favored left wing to help the team perform better. He’s always been more effective out on the left playing as a forward who cuts into the middle on his stronger right foot.

Not sure why Pontius gets so much grief from the fans. While I’m sure that he would have liked to have scored by now, there are tons of other things that he does on the pitch that people like Curtin and Arena clearly see value in. He’s a true professional.

      • el Pachyderm says:

For a team bottom feeding, Chris Pontius is no more the answer than Fabinho. The problem isn’t Chris Pontius.
