Philadelphia Union

The Union are set to take on Harrisburg City in the U.S. Open Cup at Talen Energy Stadium on Wednesday, June 14. Tickets go on sale June 5.

This week’s Union’s notes. Looks like the same XI should be expected this weekend with Creavalle in for Bedoya.

Warren Creavalle is ready for his first start of the season.

Josh Yaro will play this weekend. Somewhere.

The Union’s D is better when the shackles are on Fabinho.

Why to watch this weekend’s game. The mini pitch!

Big local rivalry match tonight: Reading United vs. Ocean City Nor’Easters in a rematch of last year’s PDL Eastern Conference championship game. The PDL has declared it the league’s Game of the Week. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Don Thomas Stadium in Exeter, Pa.

Haris Medunjanin thinks national team coaches need to respect the MLS a little more.

Josh mentioned in yesterday’s roundup that Christos FC won again in the USOC. Christos FC has a nice story, but most shocking to many of you will be the goalscorer of their lone goal in their 1-0 win over Chicago FC United: former Union draft pick/player Levi Houapeu.

FC Dallas GK Jesse Gonzalez has stated his preference to play for Mexico over the U.S.

Patrick Mullins has suffered a knee injury and is out at least a month and possibly much longer.

Around the globe

The U.S. national teams will be wearing rainbow-numbered jerseys in June. Charles Dunst explains why this is so important.

Auston Trusty scored the 5th goal in a 6-0 blowout by the U-20 USMNT over New Zealand.

The deepest U-20 USMNT ever is a product of the system working. Next up is a game against Venezuela, who has yet to concede a goal in the World Cup.

Alex Morgan left the women’s Champions League final with a thigh or hamstring problem that puts her availability for the next few weeks in doubt.

The men’s Champions League final is tomorrow.

Highlight of the day

Jeremy Ebobisse settles, turns, and fires to give the U-20 USMNT a 2-0 lead.

I love having Yaro back, but he absolutely should spend one week in Bethlehem, especially in the bandbox of Yankee Stadium. Let the big guys clog the space in the middle, and then work him in next week after you can tell that he’s ready to go 90′.

I’d like to know Fabinho’s pass completion percentage in the defensive and middle third-that’s what I’d like to know. He has been pretty stout defensively but between him and Andre we gift wrap the ball to the other team way too much.

Swashbuckler or not in my mind there is a SPACEX Falcon 9 CRS-11 with his name emblazoned on the side.

Nice article on Christos FC. The good news for them is that their win nets them $15K which hopefully paid for their trip to Chicago. And since they play DC United, their next game is in Maryland which should be a shorter trip. (And if we’re really lucky, they can make a trip up I-95 after that and play at Talen.)

imagine if that win netted them 3x as much…wonder what a club could do with that extra money….and what US Soccer could do with an excess of $100,000,000.

Anyone else using an iPhone having constant spam redirect issues when clicking on almost anything on PSP? It’s only started happening to me in the last few days.

It makes it impossible to comment, too. I’m only able to post this from an actual computer.
