KYW Philly Soccer Show: Warren Creavalle

He’s been a stand out player so far for the Philadelphia Union, and he is the guest this week on the latest edition of the KYW Philly Soccer Show. Midfielder Warren Creavalle talks with KYW’s Greg Orlandini and Kevin Kinkead of CBS3, Philly Voice, and PSP.

Creavalle came to the team last year when Philadelphia traded right back Sheanon Williams to Houston Dynamo. He played sparingly at the end of the season, but has been an integral part of the Union’s strong midfield so far this season.

Creavalle returned to the field in last week’s 2-1 loss to Seattle Sounders after serving a one-game suspension for picking up a second yellow card in the road loss against Chicago. He talks with Greg and Kevin about the increase in cards and sendings off so far in MLS this season and its affect on how players play.

The guys then have a little fun with Creavalle, as Kevin quizzes him on some trivia about his native Atlanta, Georgia.

Then, Greg and Kevin look back at the Union’s loss in Seattle. For the second straight road game, the team went down a man after a player received a second yellow card. This time Roland Alberg was sent to the showers after delivering a hard tackle. Despite the loss, Philly is still off to a strong start and remain in second place in the East with 9 points in the standings.

  1. I didn’t think I was going to like the the Atlanta segment when Kevin brought it up but it was fun to hear Creavalle open up and get a little funny. Great show as always

Interesting comment at end that Creavalle is intense on field but apparently a nice guy off the pitch. Since I’m a San Jose supporter, it reminded me of the Earthquake’s Steven Lenhart, though Creavalle doesn’t have a rep of villain on the field.
