Steelmen add 5 to technical staff

On Wednesday, Bethlehem Steel announced the addition of five new members of its technical staff.

Joining the team as assistant coaches are Jeff Cook and Stephen Hogan. Dave Peck is aboard as athletic development coach, Yaseen Khan is the team’s athletic trainer, and Brandon Comisky has been named team coordinator.

Cook was the head coach of the Philadelphia Union Academy U-16s beginning in 2013 and, before that, was head coach of the Dartmouth men’s team for 12 years.

Hogan, who is also the new head coach of Philadelphia Union PDL affiliate Reading United, will work with both teams.

Peck also joins the team from the Union Academy and will continue to work there as he works with Bethlehem Steel.

Comisky spent the last three years as the Union’s equipment coordinator.

Bethlehem Steel head coach Brendan Burke said in a statement, “I’m really excited to bring Jeff and Stephen in to build our technical staff. They’ve both had tremendous success at various youth development levels and I’m extremely confident in their abilities to help our club succeed immediately. Dave, Yaseen and Brandon are guys who I’ve worked with in the past and we share a similar drive that will really allow our group to work together as one. Their expertise in respective areas is a huge plus for us and it will be vital for our club’s success.”

  1. I guess my conversation with no one in particular regarding the intricacies of the Calabrese Countergambit opening in chess was insufficient evidence to gain a place on the coaching staff up there in Lehigh.

Quite possible with the avalanche of images and pixels in today’s society a 14 year old would be unable to attend to the matters of Monty Python… As was the case… I still can sit and stare with a bemused smile on my face at the lunacy of it all.
