Philadelphia Union announced on Friday the trade of goalkeeper Zac MacMath to Colorado rapids in exchange for a natural second round pick in the 2017 SuperDraft.

Per club and league policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

MacMath, 24, spent the 2015 season on loan to Colorado following the acquisition of Rais Mbolhi in the summer of 2014, making three starts for the Rapids in league play for a 1-2-0 record.

MacMath was selected No. 5 overall by the Union in the first round of the 2011 SuperDraft. In his four seasons in Philadelphia, he made 105 starts over 106 appearances for a 34-39-29 record.

  1. This is pretty funny. Has a team ever received a 2nd round pick twice, from the same team, for the same player in the same calendar year?

  2. Old Soccer Coach says:

Another pick that will benefit Bethlehem Steel a year down the road.

  3. Here’s hoping that he actually gets minutes this year…

I changed the dog’s name, I guess I need to change my name now too.

  5. Colorado finished at the bottom of the table, didn’t they? So this is almost like getting a late first round pick. That seems like a pretty good deal.
