KYW Philly Soccer Show: Mike Lahoud

He’s become a mainstay in the Philadelphia Union midfield and he’s in the studio this week for the latest edition of the KYW Philly Soccer Show.

Michael Lahoud joins KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch to discuss his evolution on the team from a squad player to a player who has found himself more and more in the starting lineup. The Sierra Leone-born midfielder also talks about the mood of the team coming off an embarrassing road loss against the Red Bulls as they prepare for the last game of the MLS season at PPL Park against Orlando City on Sunday.

Greg and Eli then discuss the Union’s pending offseason. The team is slated to hire a sporting director to oversee player acquisition, which likely means a lot of changes on the field. They talk about who will stay and who may go.

  1. Love this cast. Subscribed via Last FM a while back. With all the news coming out — Sporting director candidates, new trialists in training — you guys may have to go twice a week. I hope the off season keeps you all very busy.

  2. Unlike the Union, the podcast guys seem to be getting better as the season goes on.

  3. Great pod, fellas. Enjoyed hearing Lahoud’s thoughts and was surprised that until this year, he didn’t really embrace his role as a holding midfielder.

  4. “if we wanna be the type of club to talk about our academy…”

I hope Lahoud isn’t overstepping his boundaries by calling out the organization for not giving the youth a chance. Regardless, I like hearing it.

Good penultimate show, guys. Maybe next year you can do something about the RAYYY-DIIOOOO commercials. If not eliminating them, just turning the levels down! My eardrums thank you.

    • Thanks for listening! Michael was a great interview. Unfortunately, we don’t have control over the placement of those ads. It may change going into the future, but out of our hands right now. Again, keep listening !

  5. Great Pod! Loved the interview with Lahoud, after learning more of his story and listening to him talk about the Union and his game, I’m sold on him staying with the team for a long time.

I know you can’t get rid of them, but maybe coordinate with the post-production guys about where the Radio.com breaks are, so you can time the segments…just a thought.
    .
Looking forward to your off-season pods.

    • Eli Pearlman-Storch says:

Thank you for listening. And believe me, if we could do anything about the ads, we would. We would even place them ourselves (at an appropriate volume) if they let us. Unfortunately, at this time, we have no control over their placement. We continue to try and work on this, but unfortunately we are stuck with the current arrangement presently.
