It’s a bit of the past and a bit of the future on the latest edition of the KYW Philly Soccer Show.
First, KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch talk with Orlando City forward Danny Mwanga. Philadelphia Union‘s first-ever draft pick, Mwanga was with the team until 2012. In last week’s Expansion Draft, Orlando selected Mwanga from the Colorado Rapids. He joins two other former Union players in Orlando, Amobi Okugo and Pedro Ribeiro.
The newest member of the Union, CJ Sapong, then joins the pod. The former MLS Rookie of the Year comes to the Union via last week’s trade with Kansas City, where Sapong helped to win the 2013 MLS Cup.

Eli, stop starting every question with “Lets talk about”. You sound like that person that uses “dude” in every sentence.
Yeah, Eli, and stop wearing ties when covering Union games. You look like that person that actually gets a paycheck for doing journalism.
Appreciate the input, John. We’ve been doing this show a long time and I know that I get into patterns with how I speak. I’ll keep it in mind, dude.
The strength of a man’s character is in his ability to accept criticism aimed at making him better. Eli, I am well impressed. Leaving the ego on a hook outside the door is no easy feat.
+1
Just make a game of it, John. Take a swig of your drink every time Eli says that magical phrase and pretty soon, you’ll be looking forward to him using it.

I do this every time that Troy Aikman says “when you talk about…” and I consume a lot of liquid this way.
We’ve done A LOT of these shows and sometimes the interviewing blurs together a bit. If you make a KYW Philly Soccer Show drinking game, please send me the rules and Greg and I will make sure you have an awful/awesome time listening next week.
Hey Eli, is there any chance you guys could throw up a Soundcloud page archiving these interviews? I don’t know what sorts of contractual obligations you have with CBS/KYW but I think it’d be nifty. Not to mention, Soundcloud’s audio player is way less wonky than that one on the CBS website.
.
Otherwise, solid interviews. I’m happy to hear the hunger in CJ’s voice and the fact Danny hasn’t lost confidence. Wishing them both respectable comeback seasons.
