The US Open Cup final is right around the corner and is the topic of the latest edition of the Philly Soccer Show.
Philadelphia Union interim head coach Jim Curtin joins KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch to talk about Tuesday’s final against three-time Cup champion Seattle Sounders at PPL Park, which kicks off at 7:30 pm (click here to purchase tickets or call 877-218-6466).
Curtin, who won the Cup twice as a player with the Chicago Fire, talks about how important it will be for the Union to win the trophy.
The Union will face a tough test in the Seattle Sounders, who took home the cup in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Union top scorer Sébastien Le Toux — who is the goalscoring leader in the modern era of the US Open Cup — was on the 2009 Cup winning Sounders team.
After previewing Tuesday’s clash, Greg and Eli are joined by PSP managing editor Ed Farnsworth to talk about some local Cup history.

There’s a reason why I’m a writer.
You sell yourself short.
Sounders played all but 2 starters full 90 last night. Last minute win was a lift but they should wear down late on OC final. Will JC’s line ups be affected?
Curtin is going for the Cup! B team for the XI today. Optimistic for a point (or three) but more excited to have a Coach With Sack and not a Coach That Thinks Like Sak!
Did you see that thing sitting next to the analysts in the pregame, that huge beautiful cup. My precious. My Precious.
