The Philadelphia Union picked up an all too rare win on Saturday, and the latest KYW Philly Soccer Show is here to wrap it up for you.

KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch are joined by Philly.com’s Jonathan Tannenwald to break down the Union’s 3-0 road win against Chivas USA.

The game featured standout performances from forward Conor Casey (two goals) and Cristian Maidana (one goal and one assist).

Next up against the Union: offensive powerhouse Vancouver Whitecaps, this Saturday at PPL Park.

Then the discussion shifts to the US National Team. The Yanks put in a solid performance against Turkey at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, with a 2-1 win in their second tune-up game before the World Cup.

With the World Cup less than two weeks away, a few starting spots on coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s roster remain to be settled.

  1. this is the best soccer podcast. i tried to listen to the world wide soccer podcast that kevin kinkead was on yesterday and i couldnt even finish it. nothing against kevin, the host and the format and the mindset on that podcast are just terrible

  2. Great pod, but I had to laugh when JT said that he did not watch the Union-Chivas match and followed it on Twitter.

  3. Excellent pod cast again gentlemen. Have to give a shout out to JT and Kevin for asking the only real non-sugar coated questions during the Hackworth presser. Back to this pod. I totally agree that the SOB’s and other supporters need to keep pressure on the Union to reorganize and make sorely needed changes. I for one would like to see new primary ownership(comcast? or whoever) and partnership(s) developed with another organization from EPL, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A or the Bundesliga, similar to NYCFC and Manchester City. It still boggles the mind how poorly the Union are run from top to bottom and particularly from Sakeiwicz to Hackworth and staff. Hopefully Hackworth will be gone during the WC break or shortly after the season. This ship is absolutely rudderless and this franchise is in jeopardy all because of incompetence on and off the field. This by no means is a small sports market and the Union should have never come here thinking that it is. This city has had marquee talent choose to play here in every sport so with the right ownership, partnerships, and more notable sponsors than Bimbo Bread, there is no reason why the Union can’t. Changes however, will need to be made starting with Hackworth being let go and Sakeiwicz getting out of the way!!
