Philadelphians Abroad: Busy week for the locals

There was a lot of action for our locals this week.  Here’s what you need to know:

  • Lancaster, PA native and Montreal forward Andrew Wenger had a busy week. Last Wednesday he scored a goal in the Impact’s 6-0 Canadian Championship drubbing of Toronto and on Saturday he provided an assist in Montreal’s 2-2 draw with San Jose.
  • In that same Saturday match, Philadelphia-born San Jose Earthquakes forward Marcus Tracy received his first MLS minutes of his career, coming on as a late game sub. Tracy was sought by many clubs, including Philadelphia, during last year’s weighted lottery for his right.
  • For the first time all season, Philadelphia native Jeff Parke did not play a full match for the Philadelphia Union. Parke came off right before the half with a hamstring injury and looks unlikely to feature next week for the Union.
  • Over the last week a trio of locals made the score sheet at the USL Pro level. Tony Donatelli, playing for Tampa Bay, scored a goal in Friday’s 3-1 win over Antigua. Union homegrown player Cristhian Hernandez scored a goal in Wednesday’s 2-1 loss to Charleston. Harrisburg City Islanders teammate Morgan Langley scored the lone goal in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Rochester.
  • Overseas, Russell Canouse scored a goal in the fifth minute of the Hoffenheim U19’s 2-2 draw with Stuttgart. It is his first goal in league action this season, despite 21 appearances with the club.

  2. Sean Doyle says:
