After playing through snow, freezing temperatures and gusty winds during the first three weeks of the season, perfect soccer weather is expected for week 4 as the Casa Soccer League’s teams continue to battle for valuable points.
Primera
In the top division (which is only in its third week), a match-up of the second and third place teams gives Real Optimus the opportunity to tighten the standings with a win over AOH 61. Division leader Philly Soccer Firm looks to continue its winning streak as they take on Stoney United. Both the Philadelphia Continentals and FC Quaker will look to maintain pace with the top of the table this week while preventing United FC and Buckin Broncos from earning their first points of the season. Cannons FC will look to separate themselves from the bottom of the table by defeating FC Franklin, who will be trying to pick up its second win of the season. Finally, Cyborgs of Doom 2070 and Cracovia will compete for their first points of the season, hoping to not split the result.
Segunda
First place New Philly United will take on West Philly FC, who has yet to let up a goal this season. Nittany United hopes to remain with the pack as they take on Tri-county United, who is looking for its first points of the season. Bluestars FC will be looking to improve its goal differential while taking a crack at the top of the table as they take on International FC (Yellow). When Sons of Ben Zolo and Park Towne United take on Barenjager SC and Spruce Goose FC, they will both be looking to severely tighten the standings. These four teams have a game in hand over the division leaders.
Tercera
Five games on the schedule this week for the Tercera division could see the top four teams pull away from the rest of the division. With Spartan FC, FC Scrubs, Incredible FC and New Era FC having 7 points each and undefeated records, it will be a tough task to unseat any of these four. However, Loose Cannons and Mayfair have an opportunity to draw level in points with wins over FC Scrubs and Spartan FC. Revolving United and Jons Bar and Grille FC both have the tough task of trying to earn their first points from New Era FC and Incredible FC. The fifth place team, Port Fishington F.C., looks to remain in the final playoff position with a win over Devil’s Den FC.
Abierto
In the Abierto Division, NE United looks to further entrench itself at the top of the table with their fourth win, but they will be challenged by second place Kulb Designs United. Ponzi Schemers FC will surely look to forget last week’s pounding as they attempt to draw even in the standings with Delmonte. With only a one goal differential separating them in the standings, Rebels and Two Left Feet will both be looking to put the other behind them and move to .500 on the season. Torresdale United hopes to jump several places in the standings by defeating River Wards FC. Bazinga United has the chance to continue to remain towards the top of the table with a win over Stingers SC, who is still looking for their first win of the season. Finally, last place Sons of Ben Independence will face another tough task in its search for the season’s first points when they take on third place Survivors F.C.
River Wards crushed Torresdale. Woot.
