World Cup - International

Told ya so… (Edition 2)

Alright, this predictions column got off to a Portuguese style start (which is to say, very poor).  But like those plucky North Koreans it will soldier on unphased.

Just to recap.  I give you my predictions and then you weigh in with yours.

Let’s get some feedback on who you have faith in for Matchday 6, June 16, 2010.

Again, extra credit for naming the scorers, red card earners…

The Bafana Bafana are playing for keeps!

South Africa 2 – Uruguay 1

The hosts’ magic continues.  Pienaar rules the pitch and sets up goals for Tshabalala and Mphela (unlucky to not already be on the score sheet already).  The Uruguayans will continue to struggle in the attacking third and Forlan’s late goal will serve as little consolation.

Honduras 2 – Chile 2

I’m going with a wild one.  Both sides need a result here to bolster their chances of moving on and thus will throw everything forward.

David Villa = Golden Boot?

Spain 2 – Switzerland 0

Just like the Brazilians, it will take the Spanish about 50 minutes to remember, “Oh yeah, we are REALLY GOOD!”  At this point, the Swiss, who have already been absorbing tons of pressure will see the damn break.  Goals by Villa and Silva, both assisted by Xavi.

The floor is yours…

I agree with the first, think Honduras will pull off a 2-1 win, and Spain will get 3.

  2. Chile wins 3-1, Spain wins 2-0, and Uruguay wins 1-0. Of course, considering I’m sitting in 14th place in the PSP Fantasy World Cup pick ’em, maybe I’m not one to talk. (I’m pretty impressed that I picked the wrong results for the first four games.)

I obviously have no business playing the predictions game.

Your 50 minute mark in the Spain/Swiss game was spot on but wrong end. 52 minutes for Swiss.

Too late for me to predict this morning’s game but I’m going with Bafana Bafana 2 and Uruguay 0.
