Twenty players made the roster for the U.S. National Team’s friendly against the Netherlands on March 3.
The list is below, and to the left is the team’s new away jersey design, which has leaked out . (What do you think of it?)
GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Marcus Hahnemann (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Tim Howard (Everton)
DEFENDERS (7): Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Carlos Bocanegra (Rennes), Jay DeMerit (Watford), Clarence Goodson (IK Start), Heath Pearce (FC Dallas), Frank Simek (Sheffield Wednesday), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United)
MIDFIELDERS (7): DaMarcus Beasley (Rangers), Alejandro Bedoya (Orebro), Michael Bradley (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Landon Donovan (Everton), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Stuart Holden (Bolton Wanderers), José Torres (Pachuca)
FORWARDS (3): Jozy Altidore (Hull City), Robbie Findley (Real Salt Lake), Eddie Johnson (Aris Thessaloniki)
Notable choices: Only three forwards, including two “speed forwards” vying for the spot usually occupied by Charlie Davies. Also, Frankie Simek got a call-up now that he’s getting some regular playing time again for Sheffield Wednesday. Heath Pearce also got the call after last night’s good performance against El Salvador, one of the few MLS players called up. Ricardo Clark is absent, likely because of time missed due to injury.
So, what do you think about the roster and the new U.S. away jersey? Weigh in below.
