A fantastic weekend got even better on Sunday morning when the Union reserves defeated the Red Bulls reserves 2–1 at Chester Park.
Roger Torres, who scored the game winning goal against the New York on Saturday night with his first touch of the ball one minute after being subbed into the game, started the match and provided the assist for the Union’s first tally, delivering a cross to Jack McInerney, who headed the ball home from six yards out in the 50th minute.
Two minutes later, the Red Bulls got on the board when an unmarked John Rooney fired past a stationary Thorne Holder.
Chris Agorsor scored the game winner in the 81st minute when he finished a rebounded shot from Union academy player Cristian Hernandez, subbed into the game for Michael Farfan in the 79th minute.
Both teams used nine first team players, with Danny Mwanga coming in for Torres in the 60th minute. The Union roster also included one player from Harrisburg City Islanders and four academy players including FC Delco’s Jim McLaughlin (who will turn 18 at the end of this month), who went the full 90.
The Union reserves next face DC United reserves on May 16.
