The City Islanders have seen an end to the run of bad luck that marked the beginning of the season and currently sit in fourth place in the league. The sole remaining USL team in the US Open Cup, they recently dispatched New York Red Bulls in extra time and will face DC United on July 21st. On July 27th they host the Union in a friendly. Here’s a look at their recent form with an eye on some players to watch.
US Open Cup win for City Islanders
Geoff Bloes scored a late equalizer to push the US Open Cup match against Brooklyn Italians into extra time.
Islanders draw 1-1 with Pittsburgh, Open Cup Tuesday
The Union’s Nick Zimmerman, on loan to the City Islanders, scores a late equalizer against Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The City Islanders will face amateur side Brooklyn Italians Tuesday night in the US Open Cup.
Islanders dominate but draw against Charlotte
Despite dominating play the City Islanders end up with a scoreless draw against the Charlotte Eagles. Before the match, it was announced that JT Noone has signed a season-long deal with the Harrisburg club.
