José Paradela provided the game-winning offense for La Máquina just three minutes into the contest, taking a pass from Omar Campos before ripping a strike from outside the box to give Cruz Azul the early advantage.

That goal proved to be the difference as Philadelphia Union fell to Cruz Azul by a 1-0 margin in their 2026 Leagues Cup opener on Thursday night at Subaru Park.
