CHESTER, Pa. (August 31, 2024) – The Philadelphia Union traveled to Red Bull Arena to face the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night, winning 2-0. In the first half, forward Mikael Uhre opened the scoring in the fourth minute to put the Union in the lead with his seventh goal of the season. Ten minutes later, Uhre fed forward Tai Baribo who scored his seventh as well. MLS Best Goalkeeper Andre Blake stood on his head to rack up four saves to keep a clean sheet and secure all three points on the road.

Three Points:

Scoring from distance – Uhre and Baribo were snipers fed by some nifty passing combinations.
Blake – Really, is there anyone better?
Woodwork – Actually, the uprights and crossbar made as many saves as Dre

Goal: M. Uhre, 4′
Assist: J. McGlynn

Goal: T. Baribo 14′
Assist: M. Uhre

  1. MVP: It’s a tie between Crossbar and Post.

  2. I like winning. Winning is good. I’m all for it.

  3. “POST GAME REVIEW “……other than the obvious in the title, the Union showed what they are capable of playing watchable soccer when they put their best players in their best positions. Baribo and Uhre have good chemistry. Gazdig is at his best when he is allowed to roam across the middle. Danley was also allowed more freedom in the back of the diamond. His long balls are even better than Martinez. Wagner and Mbiazo are much better starting the attack when they play the diamond. Glenes and Elliot were effective and both made key tackles. Flach is effective as a defensive mid sub. Mc Glynn can make the great long pass if he has time and Sullivan is dangerous sprinting down the wing and making the low cross . Blake is the best goal keeper in the league. Curtin managed the game well this game. He gave us a chance to win with the starting line up. He made a smart sub bringing on Flach and Rafanello. On a side note Adeneran is dead weight. No Speed,no quickness, no touch.

  4. Go Back to New Jersey, oh wait….

We seem to have the Cows number. Nice to see Rafanello in there. Nice bounce back – agree with Joe B.

    • For Curtin to have the correct lineup should not be a complement. He screwed it up bad enough against Columbus last wednesday

      • I didn’t get that out of his comment, it was more directed at the team doing well given the opportunity.

  5. Really nice to see the boys play well! It wasn’t their best game but it was nice to get a road win! Also a team above us in the standings! Tuned in a little later than I expected.. missed both goals! But re watched the first 20 mins this afternoon. Both goals were nicely worked. Thanks for the write up! Appreciate everyone at PSP! And also the woodwork at Red Bull arena! Not as flashy as Dre but still effective!

  6. .
Mr Danley may single handed make this team watchable. You have my attention, sir.
