Leagues Cup: Philadelphia Union vs CF Montreal 2-0

In the knock-out rounds of the Leagues Cup, the Philadelphia Union faced CF Montreal on Friday, August 9 at Subaru Park. When these two teams faced off in the regular season in June, they tied the game at Subaru Park 2-2 and CF Montreal beat the Union 4-2 at Saputo Stadium. The game had a lot of changing possession when the teams would get close to their opponent’s goal. In extra time, Tia Baribo found the back of the net, putting the Union up going into half-time. The game teams came out ready to battle for the win in the second half. Olivier Mbaizo, Jeremy Rafanello, Alejandro Bedoya and Mikael Uhre all saw minutes in the second half when Jim Curtin made substitutions. In extra-time in the second half, Jack McGlynn and Tai Baribo connected for Tai Baribo’s first career brace in the Leagues Cup. While Jack McGlynn registered his first assist during Leagues Cup. With this win, the Union will visit rival FC Cincinnati on Tuesday for the Round of 16.
