Local lower league recap: Week of July 4

We are coming down to the end of the Spring/Summer lower league soccer seasons, so soak up all the local soccer action while you still can.

In the upcoming week, Ocean City will look to complete an undefeated regular season in USL League 2, while Philadelphia Lone Star look to play spoilers. Meanwhile, the NPSL playoffs are set to begin and two local clubs, the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals and West Chester United, have made the playoff field.

USL League 2
  • Wednesday July 6 – Philadelphia Lone Star 0-0 Ocean City Nor’easters
  • Wednesday July 6 – Lehigh Valley United 0-6 West Chester United
  • Saturday July 9 – Philadelphia Lone Star 5-4 Lehigh Valley United
  • Sunday July 10 – Ocean City Nor’easters 2-0 West Chester United

Next Up:

  • Wednesday July 13 – West Chester United vs Philadelphia Lone Star
    • West Chester is still vying for a Wild Card spot for the USL2 playoffs as they currently sit on the bubble. It looks like they may lose the spot to Christos FC of Baltimore though.
  • Saturday July 16 – Philadelphia Lone Star vs Ocean City Nor’easters
    • Ocean City has clinched the Mid-Atlantic Division and a playoff spot. They are looking to complete an undefeated regular season with a win or draw in South Philadelphia on Saturday night. Like any good rival, Lone Star FC will look to play spoiler and finish their season with a win.

National Premier Soccer League (NPSL)
  • Wednesday July 6 – Atlantic City FC 1-1 FC Monmouth
  • Thursday July 7 – Torch FC 2-0 West Chester United
  • Saturday July 9 – West Chester United 4-1 PA Classics

Next Up: The NPSL playoffs begin with both the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals and West Chester United qualifying for the national tournament. Both local teams will travel for away matches on Friday, July 15.

  • Friday July 15 – FC Motown vs Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals at 7 p.m.
  • Friday July 15 – Electric City Shock vs West Chester United at 7 p.m.

Winners of the two Friday games will play for the Keystone Conference Playoff Final on Sunday July 17. The winner of the Keystone Conference Playoff Final will advance to the East Region playoffs.
